VW/Audi Experts Please!
pajsh - 18/8/06 at 07:04 AM

Son's GTi (1999, 20V turbo) has been off the road now for a month waiting for an ignition control unit.

Apparently no one in the country has one and they are on back order at VW expected in 21/09 (another month).

Part number is 4D0905351, apparently quite common on Audi/VW cars but not so common they carry a stock!!!!

Anyone know where I could get a similar unit either second hand or non genuine VW. I'm a bit wary about non genuine parts but getting it back on the road is a priority.

Seat or Skoda dealer - they probably use the same units and their part numbers are usually either the same or can be cross referred. Other than that a specialist VW breaker would probably be your best bet.

Edit - (in my experience) VW/Audi dealers are not the most helpful or knowledgeable collection of people. Seat on the other hand seem to be on a different and mugh higher level of ability.

As said above, it might be worth phoning up Audi / Skoda or Seat as all their part numbers are either identical or easily cross-referenced.
Might be one lingering in a spares room at a dealer somewhere?

I got all the engine gaskets for my Audi from VW.

I'd already tried VW/Audi but no joy.

Think I've finally got a replacement from Euro Parts. I was going to call them three weeks ago but holidays got in the way.

They say its a match for the VDub part and last time I bought from them it was identical except for the logo.

Thanks for the help, hopefully he'll be back on the road next week.

if its bosch and has a bosch part number, any good motor factors will be able to supply it.
