Video & sound out of sync
RazMan - 18/8/06 at 09:45 AM

I've come across a strange problem while burning som avi files to DVD. The original avi file plays fine in Media Player but Nero Showtime plays the audio & video out of sync by several seconds - and this is the same when I burn the DVD with Nero.

This might be a bug in Nero as Media Player plays the file ok. Is there an alternative DVD burner prog that will work better?

are you making copies of Top of the Pops from the seventies?

Hi Mike,
Yep... It's a bug / shitty program.
I've experienced the same problem.
I now use a DVD authoring program and just use Nero to do the actual burning.
I've got a prog called WinAVI video converter somewhere that I can let you have a copy of.
Seems to work fine and supports both long play and super long play automatically.

DVD Santa sorted out this problem for me...

I now use it for most things!

I tried that prog... I thought WinAVI was better but I guess it's just a case of personal preferance.

Just the Pans People bits!

Thanks guys - I have found WinAVI on a free download site and will try it out with one of my files. Looks simple enough so hopefully I can watch a DVD tonight.

Update:

WinAVI works a treat - it recodes faster and more accurately than Nero (although I have yet to watch the DVD) and I also notice that the end file is much smaller so I guess there might be a drop in quality.

So I've got my curry ordered and I'm going to watch 'My Super Ex Girlfriend' with the mrs.
