trying to fit some new pads to the front of my car and cant seem to get the caliper piston to retract.
any help would be brilliant.
i am guessig it is the same as a mk3 golf caliper?
its the 2.0l cupra model
what are you trying to push it back in with? g clamp or a proper tool works best and if you have abs then clamp the pipe and crack the bleed nipple
to stop pushing fluid back the wrong way as some abs systems dont like this
I find a large pair of slip jaw grips works well , also known as water pump grips? Good for removing oil filters as well

some pistons you have to actually screw clockwise when pushing them back, Renault and the like are like this.
The only time I have come across wind back type pistons on front brakes is when the parking brake operates on the front wheels ie Citroen and some Saabs
Did my Golf disks and pads all round the other day, ditto on the slip jaw grips. The backs need to be wound if you end up doing them.
