After a usual Sunday argument with the other half rf spending all my spare time in the garage working on the f**king car, the choice I was basically left with was sell it, let her move back to her parents, or finish it very quickly so that we can stop spending all my money on the car and save up for a wedding.

I thought it would be quite funny to use the car as a wedding car (weather permitting)

Has anyone done this and do they have a photo ?

I run a wedding buisness and I've had a load of different modes of transport from the church to the castle. Quad bike, horse and carriage, old cars, new cars and I even had the carriage with 8 army guys pulling (there was more sweat on them than the horse).

Why dont you let her move back to her parents? Sounds like a perfectly rational and sensible solution She has however given you her blessing to finish the car asap..... which is nice.

Ive seen the bride and groom go to a reception on the back of a bike before - followed by loads of other bikers. Have to say it wasnt the most conventional of weddings and had a huge cringe factor!

Getting yourself and best man to wedding in the se7en might be an idea. probs get some good photos of it as well. Dont think getting your good lady to reception is good plan - oh and driving does stop you having a wee dram before wedding as well!

My cousin drove his Elise from the Church to the reception - it was a bit of a mare to get the bride in though! He scooped her up and dropped her in then they spent 10 mins trying to bundle the dress in properly, so as not to drag it all through the gutters on the way.

Wouldn't like to think of doing the same in a se7en (though it can look very good for a photo or two)

I drove the myself and my bestman to the church in an e-type roadster.

The Bride and I went to the reception in the bridal car.

I wouldn't like to drive to the reception with the bride, you can't have a nerve calmer and she has the excuse to start nagging to soon.

I can imagine the scene.

You dump her in the car, a bit of a squeeze with the big dress, you get in and a few death revs for the eager crowd. A bit of flailing dress catches fire on the hot exhaust. Meanwhile, you dump the clutch, maximum revs for the crowd, powersliding into the father in laws wedding car.

I bet you haven't told her about the idea of using the car have you ?

Get a grip and do as you're told, smile, agree with everything she says and watch the bank balance tumble. You'll tow the line mate, thats what all us married men have realised, wedding days are not to be fuct with

Just remember that she's been planning the day since she was a small girl pretending to be a princess. You'll strat planning the day when it's the day before!

If you trust your best man, get him to drive your Indy, that way you can arrive in style, have some photo's (if you're allowed) and then you can retire to the reception in a nice big car with champagne (in my cae, a nice classic Bentley convertible that a friend of my father in law owns - but that's a whole story in itself!)

Ask yourself 'realistically' how long the car will take to finish.

It looks pretty far done judging by your avatar but it's hard to tell!

I spent 3.5 of the 4 year build telling people it'd be done soon!

My girlfriend and I had many arguments about it up until she went to uni and therefore had other things to occupy her. Part of my trouble was spending hours in the garage but not being very productive... so would be 'busy' all day but have achieved bugger all by the end of it.

Spend some of the days you would spend in the garage 'pottering' on taking her out. Then make sure the time you do have in there is really productive. It seems like a total waste of time when you're not in the garage but if you've planned the next stage in your head it'll get done double quick when you do get back in the garage!

I went to my wedding in the best-mans Astra, had a conventional white Merc from the church to the reception, and then we left the reception in a Caterham which I'd hired for the weekend (this was before I'd got my Tiger). Was great fun, but as previously mentioned, it rather limited the amount of drinking that could be done at the reception

driving to and from the wedding worked perfectly, i only started drinking in the evening, meant i lasted til 4am and wasnt too pissed (well, we both passed out, but thats not too pissed is it?!). Your missus will never stand for squeezing her dress into a 7 type!

I can honestly say that my reception was the best party i have ever attended. 100 people, and i knew nearly all of them! Loads of friends that i dont see much of nowadays, probably never see again. Absolute classic pissup.

I'm still being shocked by my girlfriend's enthusiasm for my car situation!!!!

She's dead keen on anything automotive, and at 5 months in, still gives me a slap if I question whether she really wants to be in a cold garage with me!!!

She brings her schoolbooks out to mark them (she's a teacher) on the relatively clean "TIG bench" sitting in the also fairly clean TIG chair!

All I have to do is promise that she goes on the insurance on any of the projects!

Looks like she might even be up for coming road rallying with me, which is handy as I might have just aquired a car for the job!!

my misses is well keen on my car, same she wants to be on insurance and really be involved
