Did what you asked re disk management. It shows the drives but says no media.have installed adobe reader lately.would the bios need updating, but it worked up to the last two days. Hohe this is a help

Try changing the drive letter of the cd drives within disk manager, right click on the driver and do the wizard.

or

try system restore from Start - All Programs - Accessoroes - System Tools - System Restore and choose a known working day.

It's very unlikely to be the acrobat install thats affected your drives.
