mad dad - 24/10/06 at 09:57 AM

As above i am happy to pay a contribution but not via paypal...i have just recently been caught heavily by internet fraud and although having been advised that internet banking etc is safe i can confirm from my experience that it is'nt.........is there an address i can send a cheque etc this may sound old fashioned but i don't want people accessing my bank accounts and moving money out of them again - hope you can understand......Cheers

MD - I hear this sort of thing so often now and does make me worry about my online accounts. How do you believe it went wrong for you if you don't mind me asking?

Cheers

to be honest i'm not sure but think it might have been a fake page put when i accessed internet banking and put in some details and that information then went to Nigeria where the accounts were infiltrated and money moved out and put in someone elses account in the uk. The bank LLoyds tsb were brilliant but i will visit my local branch in the future and thats why i'm reluctant to ever put card details and other information on the net again for anything...........i know others who have had problems and the fraud people who i dealt with said the technology the cheats use is getting better each day..............................

Same goes for me, no paypal account etc and not keen on internet banking etc, so would be more than happy to contribute via cheque.

The thing about a cheque is it has all your details on it including your signature.

A credit card is covered/insured by the CC company.

I read an interesting interview with Frank Abagnale Jr. (The guy from the film Catch me if you can http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0264464/ ).
Who said he would *never* use cheques and didn't allow his children to do so.

He recommended credit cards as atleast they're protected.

Cheers,
James

It's depressing isn't it, technology is here to help us AND the crooks!

My g/f has had her Egg card done twice, one even to buy a new Dell computer! Egg have been good each time but we're still not sure how it was done...

The annoying this is that no matter how safe we feel we're being, it's no guarantee that those we deal with are being secure! Everytime we use our cards we don't genuinely know where our details may end up...Even dodgy people selling out details directly from the bank itself.

good point James....who is handling the contributions as i am happy to make one as long as it does'nt involve internet, credit cards or now cheques!!!! which = cash i am sure i am not alone on this and the site could benefit from more contributions if other methods of payment were made available???

I also want to contribute, but from here is a problem - No paypal, and other concerns as above.

But I do have a family member in London who can pay into an account for me, but I need to know where/how.

I mailed / U2Ued Chris when the pop up page was added, but no response yet.

Please, please Chris, I have to get rid of the pop up, it's driving me crazy, crazy I tell you..............

Worst is when it pop's up when you are on the last page of a multipage thread, and then resets you to to start again

Help..

How about some bank details from Chris W, then you can go into your local branch and ask them to transfer some money.

Yep.....another "me too" here......not fond of paypal...gladly mail cheque or transfer directly to an account.....

Fozzie - 24/10/06 at 02:30 PM

You don't need a PayPal account. Chris has it set up so that you can donate just by using credit/debit card......don't forget to add your sitename/email addy.

Or...drop him a U2U or email.......

So is anything sorted for paying without a card? I only have a debit card & I aint keen on using it for stuff like this because as far as I know once someone has taken from your account it's difficult to get it back, no insurance like a credit card.
