Hobbies?
donut - 31/10/06 at 08:50 AM

Ok what other hobbies have people done in the past or are still doing now.

I was obsessed by building and flying model airoplanes.

Will be interesting to see how similar your hobbies are to building cars.

nib1980 - 31/10/06 at 08:55 AM

sammy - 31/10/06 at 09:55 AM

Up until last Saturday my main hobby was motorbike racing. Last race of the year at Oulton Park and have broken my flippin' right arm/elbow. Bugger!

Will concentrate on the car build for next year and maybe take up knitting as well!

graememk - 31/10/06 at 10:13 AM

i just work all the time and build cars in my spare time, mind you i have massive morgage thats stops me sleeping at night

used to kart race with my uncle and cousin a few years ago untill we had a run of bad luck the other year

now i just have holidays in the sun what i cant afford.

foskid - 31/10/06 at 10:24 AM

I'm currently on my 4th car but in between times I do some sailing (did a round britain trip in '90), built 2 cruising hovercraft, (crashed both), a bit of gliding and spent a lot of time (and money) in the pub.

Slater - 31/10/06 at 10:26 AM

I used to do alot of hillwalking and skiing (in Scotland) before the kids came along.
Now it's building Dry Stone Walls, and the odd bit of DIY. Anything that keeps me busy.

Keith.

Werner Van Loock - 31/10/06 at 11:18 AM

atm not much except building the car.

Before that racing R/C model cars (electric) and boats. Occasionally on european level.

and playing Unreal Tournament online in several clans.

Seems more people have a R/C models background.

mackei23b - 31/10/06 at 11:22 AM

Mountian Biking
Skiing

Cheers

Ian

Keith my sister lived at Catterline ( south of stonehaven ) for 2 years. the Wife and I vist Aerdean when we can ( all most as pritty as yorkshire ) Would love to do the run in the Kit car up the coast road but the fuel costs could be a problem.

nick205 - 31/10/06 at 12:11 PM

Mountain biking's my other passion in life although house buying/renovating, marriage, a kid and the kit car have relegated the bike to the back of the garage over the last couple of years

Still the car's nearly finished (the house will never be finished) the wife's going back to work next month and my son's nearly old enough to go in a seat on the back of the bike so hopefully the bike will get a pasting next summer (although there's talk of more kids, which has sent my wallet into a state of panic )

TimC - 31/10/06 at 12:54 PM

Just Rugby for me.

That and work seems to be enough to kill all my time!

How sad.

James - 31/10/06 at 01:02 PM

I do a variant of kickboxing called Savate.

Been doing it nearly six and a half years having been inspired to take up a martial art after watching the Matrix. Have tried a few other martial arts but none have been as good.

I recently got a Bronze medal at the world championships.

A good example of Savate Combat :

A good example of Savate Assaut (my preference):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=79j-uAyRJFo&search=savate

A good friend and current World Champion is the guy in blue.

Cheers,
James

pajsh - 31/10/06 at 01:16 PM

Raced dinghys for 10 years in my youth.

Since then building plastic models, building and flying RC planes and Bellringing while my kids were small.

For the last 10 years it's been playing guitar and building a car.

Love all music, rugby and motorsport. Eldest plays drums in our band, second lad plays rugby.

Aboardman - 31/10/06 at 01:17 PM

I would like to find new hobbies, was thinking about going to a local bouldering centre to have a look at that, ok a bit old to start but why not.
Have done a bit of skiing in canada which i enjoyed. would like to do my padi diving next year possible in eqypt but has to be some where warm. i did a couple of dives in hawaii which is why i want my formal qualification. do a bit of model making but not much. trend to watch tv, play ps2 and online.

trogdor - 31/10/06 at 03:31 PM

I used to be really into rock climbing a few years back, mostly indoor but abit of out door too!

When i started uni i got into kite boarding, at one stage i had an 16meter kite and an 11.2 meter kite! Was fun in high winds!

unfortunalty i am now really skint (fourth year at uni) so had to sell them, so have only a 2.5 meter kite, is fun to fly still

zetec7 - 31/10/06 at 03:35 PM

Boating, skiing, building & sailing model boats (tugs and subs, mostly - scratchbuilt, of course!), motorcycles (street & off-road), music...

greggors84 - 31/10/06 at 03:35 PM

Mainly windsurfing when I get chance.

Parents have a place in Spain which is a very good windsurfing spot (where I took it up) And they have just bought a place in down the road from Poole Harbour so another great spot to do it.

Get bored of doing it on Lakes in the UK when there are such great warm water conditions abroad.

Used to Ski but then took up snowboarding and been doing that for 5 years. Try and go a couple of times a year, end up organising the trips, last year there was 15, it was so good this year there is 30!

Oh yeah, used to the fly RC planes when i was younger!

David Jenkins - 31/10/06 at 03:41 PM

Used to do a lot of R/C slope-soaring, but moving to East Anglia stopped that - not too many high slopes round here!

Have also done archery, plus full-bore pistol and rifle shooting. Also a bit of clay shooting.

Made a 5" gauge steam locomotive, followed by the Locost. These days the car takes up most of my time...

What next? Who knows...

David
