omega0684 - 3/11/06 at 10:29 PM

well evening all, i havent posted for a while as the build has been going very slow, due to bogg bros having my R1's for 10 WEEKS so they could make me a bloody pinto manifold. well here are a few pictures,

ive got a whole weekend on the car too, no interuptions so bring on the progress

Looks like they were worth the wait though, very nice, a conversion I'll be doing post sva me thinks.

Looks like some tube welded to a bit of plate, then polished.

Signature says it all
Steve.

Hang on, I'll try my best glasses, they're rose tinted you know.

gazza285 - 3/11/06 at 10:58 PM

Nope, still looks like a plate with some tube welded to it, then polished.

You'd better tell me what I'm missing Stevec.

Your missing that the guy is excited at what hes bought. Let him enjoy,

The outer tubes have rather tight bends, can bike carbs not be respaced like the injected bike throttle bodies to a allow a straighter shot into the port?

gazza285 - 3/11/06 at 11:27 PM

They can be, but it's more complicated than welding some tubes to a bit of plate and polished, so it doesn't happen. To get a better angle, longer bits of tube welded to a bit of plate and polished could be used, but the length would depend on the usable revs and torque of the engine would have to be calculated on a rolling road, allowing those who had the knowledge of such information to be able to charge large amounts of money for bits of tube welded to a bit of plate and polished.

LMFAO

Glad you got it eventually Alex, I know you have been wainting a while! You should be able to get that engine running soon!

10 weeks!! eeeek

Ever since they had there website designed (by me!!) they have been inundated with work. I should have been on comission!!!

Well if gazza285 hadnlt said that then I probably would..... but the important thing is you have your manifold and carbs and made one step to getting on the road whcih is what is it all about

So although it is not ideal re: uneven length and angle, it is gonna be pretty good, I can't say what difference you will get from the ideal set up but my guess it you are within 90 %.

I am sure the carbs can be spaced out - a lot of them (I'm talking TBs here) are two pairs so that is a matter of unbolting them then figuring out the linkages.

I fear I might be a cynic. Don't worry about it.

You FEAR being a Cynic

BE a cynic.... and enjoy it:
Its all part of life's rich tapestry.

If we were all the same.. how boring would that be?

Edit:

PS... I am about to start on my bike throttle body manifolds for my Rover V8.
Altiss want £600. Thats way too much for a couple of plates with some pipe welded on to it.

Are those bends, bent tube, or welded joins??

The original had one carb in the middle feeding 4 cylinders with bends and everything, it's got to be an improvement on that.
