Who owns the houses in your street?
locoboy - 4/11/06 at 09:41 PM

A mate of mine needs to find out who owns a rented house in his folks street, the tennents are causing a bit of a problem and his folks want to make a written complaint to the landlord/lady.

is this sort of information held openly somewhere? land registry perhaps?

Cheers

Yes, the Land Registry is the place!

I think it costs a couple of pounds to view/download the appropiate info once you have found it.

Land registry fee £50

The other link is usefull but not in this case as none of the names in the rented property are known unfortunately

Not really Brian!

The tenants will be on the electoral roll, not the owners.

Land register search

Cost £3 if you only want to see a plan of the land and who owns it......thier records are not always up to date, but it should give you a good start to track them down.

They should complain to their local councillor, let them take it up with the owner.

as they say in the adverts, keep a log of all disturbance and make a proper complaint to the council. Dont know if its noise or what but they do deal with these things quite well, at least in leeds. I had a guy out with a noise meter a few times

one of my customers was told from council that they needed 3 letters from 3 neighbours complaining b4 they do anything.keep phoning the plod as many complaints from different people as possible each carries a separet crime no so one visit from the plod takes care of that many instances of crime if you know what i mean.take photos or video if poss and keep a diary of events .had a similiar problem with neighbours kids playing football in front of house for hours at a time around my cars .threatened there father police involved .lasted 2 years decided to set a video camera up in the lounge window and it all stopped.still like to give there dad a slap though

No problem....I have some property near cambridge and had some problems with a neighbour there over a land dispute. The land registry is not definitive by any means, if the property hasnt been sold in the last few years since the cutoff date for mandatory registration, and it wasnt voluntarily registered...then it might not be there! Another avenue to try is to search the planning office records, most councils list them online now. If they had an extension/loft conversion etc the owner will be listed

Good luck!
