Safe way of receiving funds ? Is the money there straight away or does it still have too clear, the guy putting funds into my account will be present, not been done over the phone ?
Inter bank transfers are a good way of paying money to someone. If both parties are with the same bank it can be more or less instant but if you are
with different banks it take the same time to clear as a cheque (about five days)
Bankers drafts are as good as cash so might be a better option.

As long as its a UK bank it should be fine.
Its the Bank of King Wonga and the like you have to watch out for.
When I transfer money "online" to my sons account it goes out of my account instantly, but has to clear in his.
We are both with the same bank.
Also, I sold my old Tig to a gentleman on this site and that appeared in my account 4 days later.

Electronic bank transfers are a great way to pay for things, generally take 2 - 3 days between different banks, but once it is transferred it stays
transferred (unlike some cheques I have seen
), it is also completely traceable if legal proof is required, which is nice to know
Cheers

the bloke used my laptop logged onto his bank and transfered it came up £8000 to C darby
however as he was with a different bank it didnt show in mine till 3 days later
I didnt let him have the car till it showed in my bank
not when that much money is at stake
the fact he lived across the road probably didnt cause to many probs

I once tried to do an 'instsnt' electronic transfer to my son's branch of the same bank (HSBC). It was only £100 and they wanted £20 to
do it and could not guarantee same day transfer.
The manager got snotty when I queried the charge as it entailed only a few key strokes to effect.
Eventually I told him to forget it and used the Post Office. £12 charge and guaranteed to be available at the recipient branch in 10 mins.
Just shows how the banks screw you.
