Hi All,
I've been thinking about this car and would like to know if anyone familiar with its engine could help with a few basic questions.
Gearbox: is it a 4 or 5 gear one?
Ignition: is it electronic, mechanic injection or mechanic with contact points? (my apologies for the poor english and terminology, I try my best)
Engine: can it be repaired in a generic mechanic garage? how special is the Rover V8 engine from TVR compared to the factory Rover V8 from Rover?
Cheers,
Alex
PS: I registered in the Pistonhead forums where there is a specific forum for Wedges but as of today the are not allowing newcomers to post due to a
recent abuse..

That sounds fantastic (both your reply and the engine or so I've been told
).
I will need to buy one then
Btw the reason I've been thinking about it is I can't think of a cheaper factory built car with proper tube chassis + GRP body (and a top
and a heater) which gives about 300 bhp and matching torque, these cars are being sold for about 4k to 6k..
Thanks for your answer.
Cheers,
Alex

Thanks for that! Advice taken.
Cheers.
Apparently the chassis on TVR's last about 25 years before they need refurbishing. Something to think about.
The main chasis tubes are usually lubricated by the engine oil. An Oil tight Rover v8 are possible but unless the builder know the 'leak points
' it is vey likly that it will drip/leak.
Powder caoting on the TVR chassis has always been a little hit and miss.
Out riggers by the rear wheels are am issue especially in the uk with the amount of road salt used in winter.

Thanks guys.
On the engine leaks, I don't know your MOT regulations but they do look for leaks here in Spain because engine oil is considered a dangerous
waste to the environment
Cheers,
Alex
