New rules kicked in today wherby you cannot see the identity of the other bidders, as a buyer, you just see Bidder 1, Bidder 2 etc .
Not sure I like it, I preffered to be able to see how close and neighbourly the other bidders were in relation to the seller and therefore likely to be upping the price for him, suspicious untrusting of such practice as I am .
Ebay, obviously, are hailing it as a sucess for the privacy of buyers, but I feel it may be taking away more than it's giving?
Whats anyone else reckon?

I quite agree, in the past you could at least look and see where other (new user) bidders were located and how similar there names were to the sellers. Where as now you cant really check a thing. In short a step backwards for buyer protection.

I can see the arse falling out of Ebay soon. I had a listing pulled for 'implying I would swap'!! I never mentioned the word swap. I just stated that the car I was selling was unsuitable for strapping my son into the back as it was a three door!

Bidders IDs are only hidden once the price gets over £100, makes no sense to me...

if you and a partner / friend are bidding on the same item say tickets for a concert, you could end bidding against somebody you know and you would not know it.

I noticed that; not sure yet if I like or dislike it.

.... but the thing is to set your max bid amount then don't go over it; many bids are made becasue someone else has bid so you think ah, well, it is worth that much so I'll up my bid - but don;t then you won't be victim to bidding that pushes up the price artificially. (yeah, I've done it a few times but try to resist!!!)

That will make it easier for your friends to help the bidding on your items

No one would see the same bidder appearing on all your items.

Not that anyone would do that for me of course!

This is not good,you now cant read feedback scores of the bidders either.

i can see a rival auction site popping up if this stays.

I agree with Bob,If a zero rated bidder is running the price up there is a chance that they'll back out,I have had this happen to me when selling.

If you are selling you can see the People that are bidding its just the gen public that cannot see and only if the bids go over £100 Plus if u look at bids u can see how much % this person has bid on this person.
Its not the best system in the world but can understand why they done it.

You got to be careful with feedback nowadays also ... I gave a seller a neutral the other day he then gave me Negative ( Even thought i Paid straight away ) and he then tried to do a mutually withdrawn feedback form and said he had made a mistake.
The feedback system is a joke on ebay.
