I don't remember that thread Tim!
Great that there is another female builder

Welcome.....

Oh and of course, there is me....
SVA'd 2 1/2 years ago now......

Oh isn't Mrs Chi11i a registered member on here now?

I also think that there are a few girlfriends/wives that browse this site too

My girlfriend logs on just to check the mad house section

TimC - 30/11/06 at 11:52 AM

Fozzie - you were the one I knew about. (And your car is in my top 3 of those owned by forum users!)

I reckon a few girlfriends log-on to check that hubby/boyf isn't surfing porn or dating services!

Thank you for your very kind words Tim
I feel very humble!

As you probably know, that my car was built for the road and for the 750 MC Locost series. Which made building a car 'suitable' for both, prove to be a different and highly challenging exercise....... what with SVA et al (first time pass too )

Needless to say, I became very 'clucky' about the efforts put into the build and I have changed my mind about racing in that series.
Consequently, a few things have changed under the bonnet, namely the twin 40's, but everything else is still as per 750 regs, and as I still have the 'required' bits, it wouldn't be too hard/much to change half the bonnet and put the single carb back on....

It still has the 'required' cam in which is pants, and I will get round to changing it to the one I want at some stage, but, as it was my very first engine re-build and nowts going wrong, I am of a mind to leave it until I need to do some engine work, and then change it....

Yes, I often wonder what some girlfriends/wives think that their other halves are doing/saying/looking at too!.... Tee-hee.

All of the cars I have seen that have been built by girls, have been finished to a very high standard.

I believe this is because they are genetically disposed to seeing cleaning and polishing as a necessity rather than a chore.

Arn't all the BEC builders girls?

Sorry but had to get it in before a BEC builder did (Hellfire)

ned - 30/11/06 at 03:13 PM

Doesn't Marcus's signature say "because kits are for girls" ??

if it doesn't now it certainly used to

Marcus - 30/11/06 at 04:30 PM

It still does

Fozzie - 30/11/06 at 04:40 PM

But this girl didn't buy a kit....

The bits that were bought in, were deemed not up to par/my standard, and very swiftly and comprehensively, modified......

Mrs DIY is often on here. Replies to a good few thing "on my behalf", or just when I'm not looking! Most annoying thing is when she sits there pointing out my many typing errors before I've had a chance to change them all.

Ah, so the sensible/accurate tech. advice is probably her then?...

DIY Si - 30/11/06 at 04:52 PM

If it's accurate it's just her typing/ interpereting my ramblings! Sensible depends upon who's had most to drink!
Oh, and I think that can be construed as a compliment too, so Thank You. Assuming it was meant that way.

Of course it was a compliment.

DIY Si - 30/11/06 at 05:00 PM

Blimey, only the second time someone has thought my ramblings worth listening to! Although I'm afraid the first person outdoes you as it was JB, someone whose skills I hold in high regard!

DIY Si - 30/11/06 at 05:12 PM

And perhaps something about nice pastel shaded shirts?

I would like to see more women on any of our man dominated forums and work places, i am especialy in awe of women building cars, they seem to do it much neater than i can, a friend on another forum had his car completly wired by his wife and its a stunning job, but i draw the line at drinking more beer than i can, although i have apparently had a few good nights with some that can, but i can't remember. And as for being beaten in a straight fight, i draw the line right there.
It's the understanding i need, when i produce some oily mess scavenged from the scrapyard or a length of silicon hose bought for "a fiver off ebay" and present it to my misses, all i get is "thats nice dear, now take the rubbish out"
