Is anyone using the SKY 16Mb unlimited package. If so what r the pros' and cons' about it? Thank IA
Steve
The cons are that Sky are a bunch of useless eeeeeeedjits, don't expect much from them if you need to speak to them at all. They're actually
worse than PlusNet, if you can believe such a thing
After two whole months of me not having the internet due to Sky being totally unable to
activate my line from their end I finally snapped and told them to stick it, cancel the whole thing, and placed an order with NTL. Next day my router
turns up and it's mysteriously working, despite them telling me the day before that there was absolutely 100% nothing they could do, and no one
they could escalate me to, that could get the line working without cancelling the whole order (a 4th time) and starting from scratch (a 15 working day
long process). Which is a shame as the phone line gets turned off next week... The really annoying thing is that the line has been fine, every time
Sky order it to be ceased and reprovisioned I can see it getting done within a day or two by my old router syncing (or not), but Sky's system
isn't talking to BT's, and Sky positively insist there's no way to manually update theirs (hence the whole cease and re-order thing to
see if it works next time around).
Oh, rumour has it that about 7000 of Sky's customers have had their service accidentally ceased recently...
I was tempted by the premium high speed package from Sky.
Went through the motions of signing up, only for Sky to contact me to say that there would be a delay.
Then they phoned to ask why I had not got the MAC code from my present ISP.
Lost all confidence in them . Can't afford to be without Broadband connection as I work from home a lot.
The thought of not being on line for months while they sort it out is no good to me, so have stayed put for the time being.
Cheers
Mike
I have emailed Sky asking why there are many subscribers to Broadband who are not happy with the product. I will be back...
I have stumbled across a website explaining how the Sky broadband movies works... you may (or may not) find the reading intruiging.

you've got me worried now, only reports I'd heard were good until a colleague told me of the probs with sky+ boxes as on watchdog and you
now telling the bb has issues! I'm getting sky+ on monday and the bb is ordered and they have my mac code.
now what should I expect?
Ned.

how much bandwidth! do you need! orange sounds sweet to me ? phone number etcc
Bearing in mind most exchanges can still only handle about 2.5meg down so you're not likely to see 16 for a long time, not even 8 for that
matter.

In my part of the glorious south, BT can only manage 1Meg connection with any reliability
according to the 3rd BT engineer who came to check the
line quality this is due to penny pinching by BT in the quality of cables in our area ???
Ive just had Sky Max activated on my line last week and tbh im very happy with it, i was getting 2mb its now at 8mb with ADSL2, they were bang on time
activating it, im evan using my own router
i heard of people getting really shitty pings but mine hasnt noticably altered maybe -+5ms or so but not the horror stories i have heard.
mine was all installed/activated on time, I believe it's llu kit in my local exchange. only on 2meg but no probs, and my sky+ box hasn't
broken yet either
Ned.
If you have a stable line Speed with ADSL2 LLU suppliers is exactly twice what you get with normal ADSL.
Be advertise 25mbs ADSL2 which is really taking the p*** what most actually get is 2 to about 12 depending on the distance, live right next door the
exchange like one of my clients and you might get 14 but you still have contention for bandwidth to deal with..
