I am picking up a Nissan primera 2.0 TD on Wednesday and i was just wondering if anyone on hear has had any experience i tuning TD cars ?
i know i can go to superchips and spend £££ for some extra power but i have a feeling its just a boost hike and some extra fuel pressure
you can get tuning box's off ebay around the £100 - £300 mark looking around 20+ bhp and loads more torque
click
i have a 3l dti vectra and had a £500 power link fitted by rossitors in norfolk, its brill, going to have the next one done too

Hi, I have a 2 ltr turbo diesel Citreon Xsara. I fitted one of Dragon's chips and can honestly recommend it. Fuel consumption went up from 47 to 54 mpg, and the performance over 2200 rpm was greatly improved. They advertise in ebay, and I got mine for £160, I think that Dragon try to bid it up themselfs, so if you go that route dont worry if you lose, I did and then got "second oppertunity to buy", bit of a con really. I think there buy it now price is nearly £300. HTH Ray
i have seen afew ebay chips. glad to see they work
seen this one
i have been looking at this

Thats the same outfit I got mine from. Bid £175 and then dont go anymore, you may be surprised,

Cautionary note from another forum here
this company had some very pretty girls on their stand at the autosport show last year:

my vw tdi has been chipped (was a pd115) but has to much torque for its traction control system really when conditions are anything but sunny, warm
and dry. I fancy an audi quattro tdi next to get round this issue
ps here are the girls:

i must admit a remap on the rollers is better
Watch the clutch if you have a remap, Alfa 156 uses a 2.4 litre 5 pot diesel. Mappable to in excess of 220bhp, but eats clutches (unless you fit a competition jobbie)
My experience is with a an Audi A4 TDi 90PS engine with a Dragon digital chip. Made another 20BHP and 35 lbs ft on the rolling road I use (You could
easily get more but I didn't want any signs of over fueling). So nothing special but it is a very early engine with simple injection. I've
since done 35,000 miles without issue except for a bit of adjustment on the box as it seems to drift a bit over time. Economy did improve by approx 5
mpg and I do monitor this.
If you want to pay the extra and especially on a more modern PD or common rail diesel then get a re-map for your car.
ive got a golf anniversary pd150 as our daily driver. Its been re-mapped and had a milltek turbo back exhuast on it, running approx 200bhp. Its very
quick for a car let alone an oil burner!
I love the torque and ecomomy, and altho it doesnt relly sound like a diesel, it'll never beat a high revving tuned petrol engine sound!
After looking at the Alfa forum comments I've just booked in Angel Tuning for next week. They come to your house, remap the ECU, test it on the
road, and for my 150 bhp diesel Espace I'll be looking at a 35-40bhp power increase, much better torque and better fuel economy. They also get
you to take it out for a test drive, and if your not happy they put the old map back and don't charge - £325 incl vat.
Plenty of the Alfa chaps have had it done and rate it.....
I also had a tunit, got it for a brand new 2.0 hdi picasso (i know,i know but i did have a 360 bhp escort cossie before this!)
the car had less than 1,000 miles when i fitted the unit.
5 adults in the picasso,my mate and his son in a 2.0 mondeo ghia...couldn't keep up you should have seen his face
the unit is adjustable so had it set just below mid position. So much torque the clutch used to slip.
sold the car sold the tunit...have fitted it to new owners citroen c5 ('s) has now been fitted to 3 c5's and 2 picasso's
He reckons it makes towing his caravan much easier to drive
thanks for the relpys guys! i will look in to this more when i findout what TD engine i will be getting
