My TomTom was stolen this weekend from my car. Done using the known VW lock "feature"!

Bye Bye Jane...She knew all the roads so well....

VW lock feature?

you mean you forgot to lock it????

(that is a serious question in case this is a well known problem - thinking of getting a vw next and a smidgen worried now)

Apparently you (read crook) inserts a screwdriver into the barrel. Rotate and because of the "convenience feature" as it's called...The windows roll down and the alarm disables. This is meant for hot weather I guess?! It is possible to cut one wire in the door loom too to disable the switch that allows this so very handy "feature".

I've bought a de-lock kit today from the VW dealers and I'm spraying it up as I type! It is a replacement blank barrel, small metal disc and also blanking caps too.

Newer VW's have only one lock (passenger is blanked) and I believe the lock is re-designed now. This affects most VW's with locks from 96 to 2005.

Nice eh?

Police told me if happens ALL the time. VW certainley didn't seem confused by the request for the parts.....
