Afraid it shows my ignorance of the area really - know Doncaster OK, and love the A638 to between Adwick and Wakefield. Rest of my knowledge is limited to town centre, M18, A1(M), M62....

Pretty pathetic really considering probably 90% of my family live there. Having said that, very few of them seem to have moved very far from Woodlands...now those shops really *are* takeaway city

I have a lesson booked at Sandtoft as it is about 30 seconds away from work. Which is nice

I do worry though as I have 10,000 cars parked right under the approach flightpath and if a plane fell short it would make for an interesting day

It is not far from Doncaster, just take the A18 through Hatfield and turn right down the Sandtoft Road (opposite Green Tree pub). At the mini roundabout take the second exit. The airfield is on the right hand side about 1/2 mile down.

I think a 1 hour lesson was £100 (I didn't pay for mine!!)

also agree dont go to voucher companies like red letter days or activity superstore they charge an extra 50% for the things go direct will get any phone numbers of other airfields if needed got all of them on file

I had a flying lesson at Humberside airport, (only about 40 miles from Doncaster). What a fantastic experience, I went up with an ex airline/aerobatic pilot in a C150 aerobat. We did the usual I flew the plane for about 20 mins after a bit of instruction.

But the best bit was, it was a fantastic clear day and the instructer said "you do realise this plane is capable of aerobatic manouvers" to which I replied "is it". He then asked if I would like him to do some, to which I promptly replied "is the pope german". We then flew over the river Humber near the bridge and he first did a complete loop da loop. At the apex he looked at me and said "its better than sex isn't it" to which I could only reply "wooooaaaa". We then did all sorts of things such as stall turns, cloud chasing and a few other manouvers.

If your relative is lucky enough to have the weather and the instructer then this is one of the best experiences ever possible.

When I was shown aerobatics in a Cessna I just couldn't stop laughing (it was the headphones moving around my head from the g-force...you'd have to be there) I laughed so much the pilot thought I was going to be sick. Simply fab
