Best place to buy foreign currency
MattCraneCustoms - 2/2/07 at 04:56 PM

Hi all,
Further to my recent post, it's pretty much set that I'm going to the Cook Islands july / august. Just need the money now!!! I've been keeping my eye on the NZ$ exchange rate, on reuters.co.uk, and Im getting ready to start buying a few notes while the rate is good. Can anyone on here recommend the best place to go? The post office offer 0% Commision, but the rate isn't as good as on reuters. Anywhere else I should try?
Cheers
Matt

I've been told M&S are good, but not used them myself.

Travelex? https://www.travelex.co.uk/personal/moneynet.asp

Not used them myself remotely, only at airports

i always pick mine up in the airport or via a cash machine abroad. the difference in the rate you get isn't that much and the convienience is worth it.

(nows when someone points out just how much i've been ripped off )

Bingo Unless i'm changing large amounts of cash I don't think it's worth the effort of trying to find the absolute best rate, just go with what's easy. If you're going somewhere that has a not so strong currency you can generally get a better deal out there than you will at home, won't apply to NZ$ though
