We regretfully inform you that during our February 2007 account maintenance your credit card on file could not be authorized.

This may be due to a recent change in your personal information ( i.e. change of address, credit/debit card or phone number ).

To update your eBay records with a valid credit card please click the Place or Update Your Credit Card on File link below :

Place or Update Your Credit Card on File

Please keep in mind that although your eBay membership is free of charge a valid credit card on file is permanently required to confirm your identity.

This helps keep eBay a safe place to buy and sell.

Your card will not be charged or shared with eBay sellers. Your personal information is protected by eBay's Privacy Policy and encrypted by industry-standard software.

If the requested information is not provided to us then your account will be suspended from our database until a valid credit card is provided.

Due to the suspension of this account, please be advised you are prohibited from using eBay in any way. This includes the registering of a new account.

Please note that this suspension does not relieve you of your agreed-upon obligation to pay any fees you may owe to eBay.

gotta be a phish. :mad

I don't recall having to provide credit card infor for ebay - surely it is necesary since if you want to sell and occur seller fees, you can pay by cheque.

If the message appears in your message sction in ebay it is genuie but somehow I doubt it.

Have you forwarded it to ebay?

i believe you do need a card registered if you sell (to pay fees etc), but thats a very poorly worded/planned scam. Telling you your account is suspended 'any way' the fools...

If in doubt, type www.ebay.co.uk directly into your browser window and check for messages in 'my ebay'.

My bullsh*t meter just went off the scale. Forward the email to Ebay? They'll tear him to pieces (financially) if they can track him down!

well......I tried to change my primary address on ebay, went to the site directly...typed in the address myself, and was told I needed to register a credit card to 'prove' my identity. Decided not to bother.

However, I'm not suggesting your email is genuine.
