My old Xantia has developed the squeaky brake syndrome.
Had all 4 wheels off and pads still have plenty of friction.
Discs don't feel too scored either.
Don't think it's a warped one as the sound is constant, but only on gentle braking.
Doesn't happen if you stop with just the handbrake either.
Any thoughts?
Ta,
Pat...
Have you tried Coppaslip on the backs of the pads?
As above, copperslip on back plates, give a good blow out of dust( wear a mask). Also, ensure discs arn't glaised. If they've been running hot, they can produce an annoying squeel.
Ok, copperslip it is.
All 4 calipers look like they've done the 131k the car has done though.
Best get plently of rags and brake cleaner!
Pat...
Or proper Bendix Blue anti squeal if the Copaslip doesnt want to play.
As said - Copperslip is a good and cheap thing to try first. In many cases it will work, and if it doesn't then you haven't spent much. A
can of Gunson's brake part cleaner is cheap enough and will also help. Open air and a mask are essential, for the cleaner's fumes and the
brake dust! Just don't get any of the grease anywhere near the working face of the pads, obviously...

Yes squeze onto back of pad. I got mine from my local factors. Not that expensive IIRC but more than the stuff on Razman's link have yet to
find anything better.
If you cant get any I'll pick up a bottle for you and post on.
Cheers

Is that the really stick goo that you put on the backs of pads? I can't find it anywhere - got a link?

My Nissan has warning squeakers built in to the pads. its a small piece of metal that touches the disk when the pads get low
