My brother has a Rover 414 (95) that will not start.
I have not had a look at it yet but would appreciate any tips.
Battery is OK but it will not turn over.
He says that all fuses appear to be OK and there is a click from the ECU when trying to start it.
Anyone had similar problems.

I would suggest that the first item to check, would be to make sure that the earth to the engine is making a good connection. HTH Ray
(1) is the imobiliser light going off ?
(2)Before doing anything else check it isn't seized or frozen up or that the timing belt hasn't broken
(3) check the earth cables (known weakness)
(4) check battery connections
(5) Check battery voltage.
If none of the above suspect the starter -- afer 11 years a rebuilt starter is over due.

Clive take the plugs out and try cranking, have had rovers with leaking inlet manifold gaskets that allow coolant into cylinders. They bend rods very easily. If starter doesn't turn engine over try putting into 5 gear and pushing car, engine should turn over. Possibly just a sticking solonoid? try tapping with a hammer when someone turns the ignition switch to start.
