One of my other hobbies is photography....I want to do some shooting in an old building in a few weeks and would quite like to have some theatrical
type smoke/fog..
The only problem is that the place in question is a long walk from anywhere and doesnt have any power...
So is there any simple way of making the smoke? (I.E, adding two chemicals together etc?)
I dont really want to have to light a fire before anyone suggests it!
Dry Ice?
A fire?
Wait for a foggy day?
lol...

How about thse sort of things:

Ventilation companies use smoke candles for testing things like extraction systems, fume cupboards etc.
Or use one of these

...and take a small generator with you!
joke shop smoke bombs
Lighting Hire firms can give you a solution. You'll need a portable generator because they need mains power.
You will need a still day and a large volume machine if you need to cover a large area. Dry Ice is not an option outside,
For advice/equipment, give this place ring.

The plumbers smoke bombs probably wouldn't be much good unless you let a few off in a contained space... and then let all the smoke go at once.
really cheap smoke!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
me and housemates make cheap smoke with a tub of sodium chlorate (weed killer i think) bought from a hardware store. its the stuff with the flame
retardent in it.
What you need to do is make up a saturated solution of sodium chlorate in water and then dip newspaper sheets into it letting them soak up the
solution then hanging it somewhere to dry. i just hang it on the radiators. if theres any crystal formation on the radiator after i just wipe it off.
Once you have your dry newspaper impregnated with sodium chlorate you then fold and roll it in which ever way you want. if you want it it produce
smoke for a while then keep it nice and open. if you want it to produce all its smoke as fast as possible then compact it by wrapping it in tape as
tight as you can.....
ill try and get a vid up of one of our 'experiments' the only vid ive got is when we made a pretty big one.

just use an inverter and a car battery or a jump start pack and a smoke machine

^^^What he said^^^
You could buy a fog machine and an inverter from Maplins so you could power it off your car battery.
