Hiya guys.
Need a little help urgently.
My Road Tax ran out on new years eve. Unfortunately I was away from home at the time and didn't get back till almost the end of January.
When I got home as money was tight I filled the sorn form out and sent that off. The car failed it's mot.
I have now got a fixed it and got a shiney new mot certificate. But how do I go about taxing the car now? Can I still do this online or do I have to
tell them that the car is now back on the road first?
Go to the post office with the V5, MOT and Insurance certificate and they will sort you out. Maybe can do it on line as long as the DVLA system has updated with the new MOT and they know about your insurance.
2 days ago i retaxed my car after being declared Sorn. Went to post office, asked for the form quoted on the Sorn letter. Didnt need one, the PO lassy
just took the v5, entered some details, took payment (after checking insurance cert and having an interesting discussion about why there are 2
registration dates on it) and then issued my tax disc. All really simple - must be the new computer.
I had to explain why i didnt have an MOT. She didnt believe me the car was only just over one year old with a H-reg plate
Mr Magogroveworkshop was
with me and just opened the PO door to show her the car - totally confused she just issued the tax anyway. Thanks Pat
As said. My sisters just done the same. Just take your stuff down the po and theyl do it straight away.
ok guys thanks a lot...
I just wasn't sure of the proceedure as the car had been sorn.
Thanks for the replies.... I'm gonna toddle down to the PO now.
She was so taken in by the shiney stripes on the mac and your biggles costume

She had to give us the disc.

The truth is she just couldnt give a toss and it was nearly closing time!!!!
Just do it online. The only thing you need to do to 'de-SORN' is buy tax AFAIK.
