Just been to tesco and there are 2 Volvo T5 Traffic cars in the car park pointing cameras at the main road that are mounted to the rear corner of the
roof, what is this for?
Tax disc, Speed or just a plain camera?
Just wondered
Mike
They can check tax/insurance/mot all in one hit now with these new cameras. Could be one of those.
Most trafic cars will now be fitted with nuber plate recogniyion to check for car tax
Checking insurance will be online soon I belive.
Unsure if this is what the camera was . Didnt you take a photo ?

sounds like ANRP
so yeah will just be checking tax, insurance, mot, licence, flagged cars
I was stopped by one of these on the way back from SVA for having no number plate. The computer didn't like that at all.
ANRP isn't as widespread as you'd think
when we had the murderer on the loose in Ipswich a christmas they had to borrow ANRP cars from merseyside police.....
It's ok to check to see if the car is insured, but that doesn't necessarily mean that the Driver is insured. One of my neighbours was
driving in his dads car, shouldn't have mentioned it to me really
Guys, its ANPR and we can already check insurance, mot, vel's and your licence
Steve
They have quite a few in Yorkshire.
They explained another use for them up Harrogate and affluent areas in the country side that I though was quite clever.
Any cars that were "pool" criminal cars or belonged to known burglers they pulled them over if they entered the Harrogate area and
questioned why they were there at like 2am... searched there boot and sure enough there was Crowbars and chisels etc.. "what exactly are they
for".
Pretty good way of pre-empting and stopping burgularys.
Just P*ssed me off when they started hanging the radar gun out as well at 2am!
My mate got done at 2am for carrying on through a village at about 60.. where its now been made a 60 down to 40/30 zone and then back to 60 straight
after and he's lived there for years so knows the road and not a car/person/sheep/cow in sight!
There was obviously someone there
. I don't think knowing the road is an excuse for breaking the law and the speed limit applies all night, but
not to motorbikes
With checking insurance, how do you get on with a motortrade policy???
