Hi All, I've received this e-mail recently from E-bay, I've sent it to 'Spoof' but they say it is genuine??? . 'My Ebay' confirms I have neither sold or bought anything in recent months and the address of the contact is different from the 'find a contact' results on e-bay searches !!
Any Ideas ?????

It looks like someone has used your ebay account for a scam.

It's happened before, they put something on and sell it using your ID and then take the cash and dissapear - the buyer thinks you just haven't sent the goods.

The clue is in "the address of the contact is different from the 'find a contact' results on e-bay searches"

Get on to ebay straight away.

Is the message in your My Messages in my ebay?

The listing exists and the seller's address is in Nantwich.

Personally I'd ignore it and see what happens.

the listing looks genuine, and 3 have sold!!.

if you ebay username is adam2778 then looks like someones hacked your account.

contact ebay asap, and expect a couple more email from angry buyers!

Cheers guys, I know my account hasn't been hacket this time, it was a year ago by some scrote in Hong Kong. The mail only came through to my e-mail account and not to my ebay messages, that was another clue as to the falseness of it.

This also might be related,, my home phone number was rung the other night by someone who claimed to be ringing ' on behalf on the metropolitan police' didn't leave a message, just who they 'were' and said they would ring back, which they have'nt.

Also My username isn't as as suggested Ray, so another clue me thinks ??

I wouldn't respond. Check how bad the English is. I have done dealings with EBay and they never have such bad English.

They want you to respond because it confirms they have reached you. This can be used for possible identity theft. I would call the police using the phone book - probably not a 999 call.

id say the sender is the fraudster, trying to fish for your details via the next message. He wouldnt be using exclamation marks if he had really been ripped off, his message would have a more angry tone. Is it worth following up to work out how his intended scam works?

I've just mailed E-bay again about it requesting they take action, stating all the evidence that has been discussed.
I would have thought it would be poss for E-bay to enter false info them selves to enable them to trace the sender?? or am I being too obvious ??
