Stuck at work so cant get any pics yet. Found cap though stuck in exhaust pipes!

still oil in system but more smoke than red arrows display team!

well it could be an excuse to go Bec!

Yup- I've done that

I was filling the oil up on the Xflow Fury (something I got to do quite a lot!!)... I had the bonnet up mid oil-fill. I was worried the level was going to drop after the engine was run so I switched on and rev'd the engine... but I'd left the filler cap off.....

Quite impressive little fountain!!!

could have been worse,it could have been the sump plug

You say that, but a mate of mine was changing the oil on his mum's disco, went to re-fill it and wondered what the stange splashing noise was. Took him 10 mins and 3 litres of oil to realise he'd left the sump plug next to him on the wing!

A friend did that filling up his scoobie after boasting about how great his fancy synthetic oil was!! PMSL

Having talked my girlfriend through changing oil on first mine and then her car I got her to drive the car down the ramps.

Unfortunately the bucket of oil (2 cars worth) was still under the car and got knocked over on the drive....

8 litres of black oil over Dad's drive did not cheer him up too much!

Cheers,
James

Have been there and done that James. One crushed bucket and one very sticky driveway.

about 1987/8 I had a part time driver who checked the oil & water on the taxi (1.6 Cortina mk5) he was driving before he set of from Rushden to go to Aldershot at about midnight. About 2 hours later I got a phone call to say he'd broken down at HEATHROW.???

When I got there & opened the bonnet there was oil EVERY-WHERE. The oil filler cap was sitting on the inner wing still where he left it while he filled the oil up BEFORE he set off.

It took 80miles before the engine started to rattle.
