"It's supposed to be a grand piano"
"Well, it doesn;t look very grand to me!" *

* as I'm sure you all remember, this is taken from a Bash Street Kids comic frmo the 1975 annual.

No need to make a song and dance about it!

Whoops

I love the hands on head look! Also classic how it was treated really carefully getting it off wrapped in a padded blanket, but once they'd dropped it, they just got a tractor in with some webbing straps!

How many people have emailed the company asking them for a quote, seeing as it is so proudly displayed on the side of the truck? Any publicity is good publicity?

Mike

P.S. I know I shouldn't gloat, but I've just had 12 sheets of 3000mm x 1200mm x 15mm toughend curved glass delivered to site today. They had to be carried up 4 flights of stairs cause they didn't fit in the lift. And we didn't drop one! The eight week lead time for replacing a broken sheet pales into insignificance compared to the lead time for a new piano!

I used to move a grand about when I worked in the music biz and can only sympathise with the blokes that dropped this one. Grands are heavy and unwieldy beasts that seem to want to fall over at the drop of a hat.

sympathise with those idiots? Nope, they should have known better for a company that specialises in transporting big pianos.

A bit of french polish and it'll be a good as new

45 grand piano more like, although it was only insured for its auction price of 26 grand which was a bargain but seems less of one now .

gazza285 - 11/4/07 at 04:27 PM

Might need a retune at least.

graememk - 11/4/07 at 04:39 PM

well it's just on the six o'clock news!

wilkingj - 11/4/07 at 08:12 PM

Just in case you all wondered, its NOT a Grand Piano.

Its a Concert Grand Piano, being transported for an event.

its insured, but its a write off. Still its worth around £45k.

Its a shame when such a nice instrument gets destroyed.

Well, it was....

I think it is probably recoverable. The case may be battered but the main works are on a sod off great steel frame! Also having been in the music business and been a reluctant party in touring a concert grand in a big flight case it took the quick way down the stairs at Middlesbrough Town Hall, that's a stone flight that takes you up one floor, and it was absolutely fine the following night but the flightcase never closed again!

How long does this piano burn?

If long it is a good one
