How good are they???

RazMan - 17/4/07 at 06:09 PM

Bit of an open question that The short answer would be .... bloody expensive!
They are certainly one of the best kits available but are beginning to look a bit dated now imho.

StevieB - 17/4/07 at 06:13 PM

I think it's all rellative - what's good for £50k?

You could get a TVR Sagaris for the same money (plus use the axtra few hundred quid change to get a good RAC membership!)

dilley - 17/4/07 at 07:07 PM

how about £12500??

needs tlc,tax and mot,

97 reg,

400hp chevy,porsche box etc.

DIY Si - 17/4/07 at 07:10 PM

TLC being tender loving care, or takes loads o'cash? Might be best to go have a look before doing anything.

dilley - 17/4/07 at 07:24 PM

look on pistonheads and tell me what you think.

Aboardman - 17/4/07 at 07:35 PM

just had a look

i would for that money,

dilley - 17/4/07 at 07:37 PM

Im going in the morning, ill be there at 6am seems ok to me,.,

jonno - 17/4/07 at 07:39 PM

Very nice, well worth looking at for that sort of money. Depends on how much work need doing as well.

Hellfire - 17/4/07 at 07:40 PM

Looks ok but it's difficult to tell from the single picture. What would put me off are the words This is a sold as seen project that requires substantial TLC. The car hasn't been driven for around 3 years.

If you're interested, it's definitely worth looking at in the flesh before you make a decision but try and take someone along who has some experience of these types of car. Preferably building them.

depends what you want the car for & how much you want to spend. I've seen some excellent ones that must have cost an absolute fortune.

Personally, i'd love one as long as i could do something with the mirrors (i hate them, the can-am had much nicer mirrors).

Talk to NS Dev he's mates with the owner! (which means he'll be completely unbiased, esp as he goes to Le Mans with him in an Ultima every year)

skydivepaul - 17/4/07 at 08:23 PM

the car looks like a good 12.5K worth of motor.

very nice.
if I had the money,,, i'd have it

lucky
b@st@rd

RazMan - 17/4/07 at 08:25 PM

As with any kit, the build quality is crucial and the only way you are going to find out how good it really is will be to have a good poke around and ask lots of questions. As for mechanical condition, just bear in mind that if that engine and/or gearbox needs an overhaul you can say goodbye to over £5k quite easily. Tyres (if they are worn) will cost an arm and a couple of legs.
The owner will have probably spent over £40k to get to that level so for the price it is certainly worth a closer look.

dilley - 17/4/07 at 08:31 PM

suppose I wont be classed as a locost builder anymore

Aboardman - 18/4/07 at 12:46 PM

so did you get it

dilley - 18/4/07 at 03:21 PM

I left at 5;30am this morning, got stuck in traffic for 45min,turned up at 8:15 rather than the arranged 7:45, and some b@stard beet me to it and paid£13500,Iam GUTTED.........the car was worth the money all day long.

Pezza - 18/4/07 at 04:13 PM

gutted for ya mate

dilley - 18/4/07 at 05:26 PM

The bloke promised me first refusal I know I was running late, he could have called me....THE TOSSER

DIY Si - 18/4/07 at 06:25 PM

That seems a bit harsh especially since he gave you first refusal. Gutted as I wanted a ride in it!

dilley - 18/4/07 at 06:48 PM

I think having more money flashed at him did it, If I had been there when the other person was there would have been fisty cuffs

DIY Si - 18/4/07 at 07:32 PM

Is there a plan B, or too pissed to think about it right now?
PS, I'd hit someone fairly hard for that car at that money too!

Heh heh, buy the TVR then LOL!!!!

Hmmmm, Ultima, faster by several country miles, and more reliable by even more country miles.............................. that is like comparing a suzuki baleno to a BMW m3 and saying the suzuki is good value because its a car with doors!
