locost car lift idea

Just had a brain storm.....doable if you sank some strong posts into the back of your workshop.....

you're strong posts might have to have the same torque strength as opposite of the pivot point on a 7.5 tonner though - but I agree with what you are saying!

We fit those lifts to our truck bodies, they bolt through the rear pillars which are 125x65 rolled steel channel, so that would be all you would need at the rear of your garage.
Only problem I would see is they run off 24V and there is no mechanical lock, so you should not work under it unless you add something.

But apart from that, not a bad idea. Although if I were doing it I would strip all the guts out of it and use the bits to make a normal garage type car lift.

I wouldnt use it like that. Its got leveridge (spelling) from the length of the platform acting over the whole truck so youd need to make something to balance it out. Unless you can make it with the pillars in the middle.
