Mass LB Karting Get Together
Avoneer - 22/4/07 at 08:22 PM

Anyone up for organising a mass Locostbuilders karting session somewhere in the middle of the country?

Anyone interested or suggestions for good venues.

Mine would be York as that's the only one I've been to, but most of you are all southern fairies

sounds like a cracking idea.

would also choose York (assuming you mean Tockwith Airfield?)

How about a location a bit more central?

Amen Corner Karting

Phil

Hmm....

York is probably pretty central when you take into account our friends across the border!

Fulbeck, near Newark, great circuit, full timing gear with massive leader board you can read whilst driving decent Karts, central.

Downside, severe backache for days, numb forearms and wrists.

Daimo_45 - 22/4/07 at 08:35 PM

How about one south, one central and one north?

JoelP - 22/4/07 at 08:36 PM

ive done tockwith, plus most of the places around leeds. Also karting north east up near newcastle, all good places. We did a locostbuilders karting session once, but only me and i think it was andrew turned up!

StevieB - 22/4/07 at 08:48 PM

How about we make it interesting - do a few localised sessions and then a chamion of champions shootout to get the overall winner?

One 'southern fairy' up for it, but York is a bit far from Essex!!
regular at Lakeside karting, Buckmore park is good too. What about Milton Keynes??
South , Midlands and North heats a good idea too

Danozeman - 22/4/07 at 09:29 PM

Id be up for it depending where it is..

Seconded!!!!! & We'll thrash you Northern Boooooogers!

JoelP - 22/4/07 at 09:42 PM

not too bad if we car shared to a venue, unless everyone is off in kits

zxrlocost - 22/4/07 at 10:10 PM

can I bring my V twin GX620

the two stroke boys reckon it doesnt handle

it doesnt!!!

but its interesting on the straights!!!

Avoneer - 22/4/07 at 10:15 PM

Milton Keynes is feasable.

Lets concentrate on one meeting and see how it goes!

Any other venues.

If we can agree on that 1st, then we can start a list of people.

Another vote for MK, mainly becasue it's 1/2 hr away! It is pretty central, but anywhere from 'Op north is a long way, especialy on fuel for those tight fisted notherners!

Daimo_45 - 22/4/07 at 11:11 PM

76 miles. Doable .

Browser - 23/4/07 at 12:30 AM

Aye, I'd go to Milton Keynes, and could probably drag one or two mates as well.
We usuall go to Ancaster Karting, which is sort of central-ish but off the the East a bit, here.

The best circuit to go for is PF international .... in the pic above. 1.2km long and they let you use the full circuit on pretty decent karts. Is considered the best circuit in the country. I used to race there every month. Its just off the A1 near newark so is central in terms of north and south. They specialise in corporate type events. This one is the one to go for !!!

All the info is here

just looking at the Ancester track, looks good track,
but TOP speed 50MPH!!!!!! ,
will have to take something to read whilst going round there

ChrisGamlin - 25/4/07 at 10:04 PM

I'd be up for a southern one, or maybe MK if a few people from the Guildford area were going up together

If you're looking for a central location though, a few weeks ago I went to Grand Prix Karting for a stag do in Birmingham, they use the same Biz twin engine pro karts as Ive driven elsewhere, its quite a good track for overtaking, and the staff are fairly relaxed unlike the patronising attitude some organisers seem to have so overall a good afternoon out.

These places that claim the pro karts hit 60-70mph though are having a laugh, I got fastest time of the day at the above and happened to have my GPS in my pocket and I only logged just over 40mph depite a fairly long straight where the kart didn't feel like it was accelerating much more! Ive also driven at MK and Thruxton in similar karts and they didnt feel any quicker, so would be interested to find somewhere that really had proper competition spec karts with a bit more grunt.
