Braided Flexy Hoses - Your Input Sought!
russbost - 24/4/07 at 09:03 AM

Please give an opinion, the more the merrier! I am shortly getting a brake line swaging machine for making flexy hoses. The hoses are available in 15 colours (13 pictured) & the hose ends in 6 colours.

There is a "Carbon Effect" &, I think, a paler metallic blue (paler than the metallic blue on the gold hose end) which I don't have samples of at present.
The hose & ends can be mixed & matched in any colour combination with any type of end fitting (although only banjo ends shown here), you could have a carbon effect hose with a purple fitting at one end & a gold one at the other, or whatever. This is absolutely top quality SVA Ok Teflon/PTFE inner, stainless steel braided outer with stainless steel ends. They should come out at around £8.50 per hose (varies slightly depending on length & fittings) + P&P which is hardly any more expensive than the bog standard rubber ones, but allows you to colour code the hoses/ends to the car & give you a firmer brake pedal into the bargain. So what's the question?

1. How much interest in this product do you think there is - would you buy them, is that a good price?

2. What colours, colour combinations would be most popular?

3. What hoses are you using, ie Sierra, Cortina, Escort etc. & are the female ends circlipped?

Would really appreciate as much input as possible on this as it will affect what quantities I put into stock.Thanx in advance.

not sure what I am seeing here - the coloured hoses - are they stainless steel covered with a plastic sleeve? if so, I would prefer plain old braiding, in black if avaialble.

Also black end ifttings -these are aluminium anodised I take it?

I think anything under a tenner (inc VAT) per hose with fitteings each end (would prefer male type ends) is a god price IMO.

Unfortunately I have built my braking system so would be in the marked for some

The hose is stainless steel braid impregnated with pvc, the ends are all stainless steel the colouring is electrophoretic coating

I've just spent a small fortune plumbing my whole brake system with braided hose... I'd have definately gone for this stuff if you'd have been competitive.

Next build eh?

Edit to say: You should offer your services on the Bikecars forum as this is popular with the racers!

I would also echo what Tim edited to say, as I was looking at a set of these for my bike a while ago, and still haven't bought any yet!
Mind you, I am about as skint as humanly possible, so won't be treating my bike for a short while yet! But I am interested.

cheers,
Steve.

Sexy brake pipes! Not at the stage of needing them just now but definately will be interested as i am trying to colour match all the components. You could try to target the stock car or autograss guys.

I'd be interested in a set for the avon. If they are stainless then I'll be wanting some. Purple to match my chassis colour of course.

TimC
As a matter of interest what did it cost you to plumb the whole system in braided?

speedyxjs - 24/4/07 at 02:55 PM

Very nice .
I think they will look great on our 'exposed' cars. I will definatly want to buy some when the time comes.

Yes please. I am just about to order stuff for a full set (full car inc front to back) for my grasser so if it works out cheaper than Raldes I would be very, very happy! Can you let me know if this is going to happen please?

Very, very nice. If you decide to do them would defo be interested in a couple of yellow one's for the front of the Custard Pie. Already have S/S ones, but would be great to match the colour. IIRC the ones fitted have male at both ends. Ray

Would they come with some documentation that would keep Mr SVA happy.

If so and at the right price would be interested.

Cheers
