I need a hand!!!
nitram38 - 26/5/07 at 10:48 AM

Pretty please!!!!!
Anyone in Mitcham/Croydon?
Everyone I know has gone away for the weekend including neighbours.
All I need is a 30 second lift with my R1 engine from it's delivery box and straight onto a workmate. (workmate bench that is )
A cup of tea and a sandwich in exchange ! (plus a sneak preview of Project X)

Cheers Martin

I said a hand not a couple of a*seholes!

You're not helping much!

I have spare time and I can't do a thing!
On the engine I need to fit the sump baffle, a barnett clutch, an electric reverse kit and fit a new 4-1 manifold.

How heavy is it? I can lift my blackbird around onmy own, and that must be a good bit heavier than an R1. I say this having no idea how big/strong you are though!

It is 63kgs
I can lift it if I want to put my back out or risk dropping it. At £1800 I can't afford a problem!
It needs to go from the floor, from it's plastic delivery crate and onto a workmate bench.
Two people it will be easy. One will be a struggle.

Fair enough then. I normally just have to struggle, as my mates work stupid shift patterns! Oh, and my engine only cost £400.

That's normally what your wife is for

And/or any kids older than 6.

I don't think that they can handle the bad language !
Also, experience has told me that they normally get half way and give up, leaving me struggling!

Have you got anything yo can make a tower or two from? Ie lift a bit onto a little tower/table/whatever, then a bit more to a slightly higher tower, repeat until at workmate.

I lump our tt600 engine around on my own. Probably shouldnt, and suprised a couple of people by lifting it up onto our welding bench the other week because it was in the way. Then I thought it wasn't all that heavy, weighs in at about 70kg with all the bits attached. Most people weigh more than that.

If you can get a good grip on it thats the main thing, some rubbery gloves are good. Bend your knees not your back, and you'll be fine. Try to lean the cylinders against your chest so its not trying to topple forward/away from you.

Take your time, plan your lift and try it. If you really dont think you can then you'll just have to wait

Don't Worry, Desyboy is on his way over.

I wouldn't recomend lifting things on your own, I fitted a belfast sink in my kitchen, it said on the box "Two man lift" I'd been lifting it on and off the base a couple of times to get everythong lined up properly when I was lifting it for the last time when my back gave way, so there I was trying not to drop a ceramic sink with spasming muscles in my back, I folded underneath the sink and ended up having to get Dot to lift the sink off me, ended up having a week off work but the pain was unbearable

But I'm daft I've been having back problems since I was a kid, but I just don't learn!

The engine is now safely sitting on the workmate, ready for tomorrows onslaught!
