One for the Renault experts...

I've been having a look today at my sister's Laguna (M reg, 94-95) which has a slight, but noticable hesitant misfire at around 2-3000rpm. I've done the usual checks of plugs, leads, distributor and associated connectors, nothing obvious came up other than the plugs are white, indicating that it may be running weak. I'm a bit wary of making assumptions on this though, as injected engines (this one is SPi) often seem to run this way.

Was wondering about getting one of the DIY fault code readers but all the ones on ebay seem to be OBD2 readers, which I *think* came along after this car was produced. I suppose the answer is let a renault agent take a look, but don't really want to spend megabucks on a car which is pretty much in the banger category nowadays.

So I'm at a bit of loss really where to go with this, so any thoughts or experiences would be gratefully received!

...no, this is an early 8v 1.8 with a single coil and distributor

Plug lead conductors breaking down under load?

Has it got an ignition amplifier anywhere, if so it could be this.

Lambda sensor is another usual suspect
