I have not yet reached that part of the learning curve that deals with fuel injection systems, so...
I have just aquired a Renault Espace ('93). It is fine in every respect except that on start-up it ticks over at 2000/2500 rpm and rising, then
stabilises at about 3000 rpm. It should be 800 rpm give or take 25 rpm.
Question; Is it likely to be the ECU, or a sensor, such as Lambda, Mass air flow etc.
What I really want to know is; is it something I could sort myself or is it a stealership jobby? (Emphasis on the 'jobby'
)
Any helpful, or failing that funny, suggestions would be appreciated.
Does it have anything as simple as a throttle stop on it? Or something else allowing the throtlle to not shut? If not, maybe a faulty idle control valve?
Ah! Rob, beat me to it, thought that might know the answer, (and "appear" inteligent). As said I would check for an air leak first, wouldn't take much to up the rev's. HTH Ray
Cheers guys! All the help is really appreciated.
We n'er 'ad this kind o'trouble wi' steam.
