Alonso claims.........
Jon Ison - 14/6/07 at 09:42 PM

Hamilton is getting preferential treatment ?

Ok, what is Spanish wine made from ? Grapes by any chance ? Sour ones ? The guy as a short memory, wasn't he "allowed" to win a recent GP ?

If I was Mr Dennis, I'm not, but if i was P45 on its way.

Don't you think its the press making this up or has someone actually spoken to Alonso?

martyn_16v - 14/6/07 at 09:48 PM

I think he's just being misquoted in order to sell a few more papers and bump up some more patriotic support for Lewis 'the second coming of christ in a car' Hamilton. I seem to remember the gist of the actual interview with Alonso being along the lines of "i'm in a new team, who are mostly english, in england, lewis is obviously settling in a bit faster than I am"

RichieW - 14/6/07 at 09:49 PM

I remember reading somewhere that he was quoted from an interview on spanish radio.

So thats a definate maybe then?

I thought Alonso lived in Oxford! Is that not in England then?

RichieW - 14/6/07 at 09:58 PM

What I mean is there should be a recording of him saying it on air rather than a made up written quote thats been published

Ron Dennis has been funding Hamilton's racing for a lot of years now - so yes, he probably is getting preferential streatment.

Plus, he's a sponsors dream, so that'll add to it.

Alonso's critic said he may not be that great when he's away from Renault - maybe they're right? And he deserves to be put on the back burner a bit after his driving at the weekend - talk about desparate chances!

Sorry for that. Its late and i am still at work. I dont think we should rule out Alonso yet. He has been a bit unlucky.

Quote from Alonso
I’ve been the first and most prejudiced by this new rule of the safety car and my team mate received more benefits. He stopped in lap 23 and the safety car went out in 24, after then he stopped in lap 47 and the safety car went out in 48 . That’s why I say that when the safety car appears it is a lottery and my conclusion is that I had bad luck but it doesn’t matter because in other races good luck will be for me and bad for others.

I do hope Hamilton wins the championship this year though.

I'm a long time fan of F1 but they a a bunch of whinging babies!!!.

The tracks not right , the tyres aren't right, the cars not right , the rules aren't right.

Alonso has surprised me , he doesn't seem to have much confidence.

He should admit openly that Lewis is doing really well , and that Lewis is really talented and could win the championship in his first year.

It would put more pressure on Lewis not F*** up and , leave him free to carry on his racing.

Did you see the NW 200 ,and the TT , and De Puniet on MotoGP? , they are supermen!!

PS: I still wouldn't miss F1 !!

Here is the link to McLarens site with an explanation of some of the recent issues. Its worth reading... McLaren

We are only getting press speculation and made up stories on all of this remember. Yes Lewis is brilliant but Alonso still has it in him. Just my opinion but Alonso is having to adjust to other car, tyres, rules, team etc where Lewis is just has to go out and race (realy well). As i have stated i hope Lewis wins it this year as it will be good for british motorsport not just F1.

RK - 15/6/07 at 02:33 AM

The championship is Alonso's to lose, and Hamilton just has to be respectable to be a big winner this year. He has never been pressured like this in F1. And he is right, Hamilton is the great hope for British racing (at least we don't have to hear about how great Jenson is!! - yes he's a good driver, just not good enough).

speedyxjs - 15/6/07 at 06:42 AM

If Alonso did say that, its just another racing drivers excuse. They seem to be good at that, especially in f1.
