looking for a quick way of fabing a set of ali waterpipes for the BEC.
the person charged with the tigging has let me down. So is there a method to weld these pipes with a rod or solder. I tried flux and plumbers solder
no luck......
ps its the weekend and b&q is my option
In which case this seems to be your only option.

You will see that B&Q sell a similar product.
DON'T DO IT !
Get it done properly!
Do you really want to risk a blown engine for the sake of a couple of days?
The bloke doing the demo is an expert, and makes it look dead easy.
However, it does work, and works well, if you take the patience to learn how to do it.
Agreed, too much heat and it all falls apart.
It controlling the temperature in a smaller area, so you can "weld / Join" but not get the lot falling apart.
I have worked with people who plumbed up lead cased telephone cables. They got the lump of lead on the joint, so it was like putty, but not solid or
molted. The they could move it around the joint with a real moleskin, and produce a perfect finish.
I have tried loads of times to do it, and they make it look dead easy.
Its a skill and loads of practice.
Done properly, its not far short of excellent. too hot or too cold, and it becomes a mess.
I have used Technoweld to repair body panels on my Landy. Apart from buckling the panel with the heat
, I got a good watertight repair. It didnt look
that cosmetic, but was strong and watertight.
Afterall Its a Landy, its not meant to look good
Its horses for courses etc. These Low Temp Alli "welding" systems are good, but needs the skill to do it properly.
Just like MMA, Mig, and Tig. It requires practice and some skill to do it perfectly.

Technoweld is surprisingly strong but it is brittle.
The "filler rod" is almost pure zinc.
And traditional aluminium welds will go on afterwards when it cracks.
Used it on a greenpower car chassis...
Bob
make them from copper. as its easy to joint/solder. easy to get hold of
then clean it up with wire wool, etch primer n paint it silver.
