Went to Rockingham yesterday
Browser - 25/6/07 at 10:23 AM

To watch the SCCA V8s and support package. Now, the admission price at The Rock is laughably cheap compared with othr racing circuits, £11 in advance for adults and kids free, but the major attracion of the day, the V8s, did't run because it was raining.
I am a simple sort fo person so complex concepts make my head hurt, but if you're gonna run a race series in the UK, it stands to reason the odd one' s going to be on a day when precipitation is either expected or occuring. Even the cheapest Perudoa or Chinese-made car has tyres which work in the rain, wipers and a heater/demister. So, to organise and promote a race series with cars which don't run wets, don't have windscreen wipers and don't have screen demisters seems, well, a little lacking in foresight, if you know what I mean! Yes, they are meant to share many of the characteristics of NASCARs and are built in the same style, but it obviously doesn't rain in the Southern states of the US or, if it does, they probably roof the track over or something
Even the pickups which did have a windscreen wiper and wet tyres, had to keep pitting, and therefore losing race position, to get windscreens demisted. I know in racing, weight is the enemy, but so is not being able to see, and if the series organisers mandated that everyone had to have one they'd all be on the same level playing field, wouldn't they?
Your thoughts, if any
