British gas are in meltdown apparently with there customer service
well to top it off they sent me a letter saying electricity would go from £30 to £56
ok so it doesn treally say why etc however when you phone there number you sit on hold for 25 minutes pathetic
its one BIG SCAM
then to top it off my gas which is usually £40 they have took 135 pound out of Bank account
I hardly use any bloody gas!!!
Im trying to get intouch as I type any one reccomend a good company for all this Ill change straight away
ta chris
i got a bill last 1/4 for £1861.55 when my normal bill is around the £140 mark, sugested there was a meter fault and they wouldnt have it, it took 5 phone calls and a recorded mail letter to sort it.
they have been trying to borrow money off me by increasing my direct debit so that they owe me quite a lot. One phone call a few months ago sorted it
If the utilities are the backbone of Britain,
then British Gas are the ass hole at the end.

p.s. I haven't even got gas... but try telling them that!
Some gas companies are notorious for grossly overcharging on their direct debits then giving it all back 6 months later with no interest. And even
then you have to fight for it (spending time and money on hold on the phone).......
Infact, I ended going with Atlantic because of their excellent customer services.....
We've had bills for houses we don't have.
Bills for a house we do have but it has no gas and electric from a different supplier.
A bill for somebody else in a house at the other side of the country, but addressed to us.
Had money taken out of our account for a person with a similar sounding address but in Scotland!
And several visits from bailiffs wanting to seize goods for unpaid bills that we've never received or had paid!!
It even took us over six years to get them to understand that we own a holiday home that has no letter box so we wanted the mail sent to our home
address and that we were prepared to pay for the electric we used through BG but we wern't prepared to pay for the gas we didn't have!
We tried dozens of times to change suppliers but as they said we had outstanding debts, we couldn't!
British Gas my arse!
I had real problems with both British Gas and NPower - trying to switch between the two, BG blamed NPower for informing them that we'd switched
back to NPower about 4 times, then eventually they got their act together and sent me a bill for £100 to cover the last 4 months while they'd
pratted about.
I paid it gladly, asking them to shut my account while I transferred to Scottish Power - no problems since.
I've been treated *very* badly by British Gas many years ago, mostly due to burocratic machine mentality. I expect that is was near a different company then as they had no competion.
My mate used to work for them - you wouldn't believe some of the stories
Fuckwits from the basement to the top floor.
They are the biggest bunch of f****** b******* w****** in the universe!!!

I had no end of stress with them last year - billing issues ( their fault ) that had me on the phone waiting for over 6 hours in total (i logged it at
the time after the first call took over an hour before I eventually realised that the call centre had closed in the meantime and they'd all
pissed off home but left me on hold) which ended with them threatning to cut us off and call in the bailiffs - they are a bunch of undertrained
incompetent f***wits!!!!!! Quick enough to answer the new customer line but the complaints line is unmanned
I managed to switch suppliers ( against their best concerted efforts to prevent me ) and then 6 months later they issued me with a bill for £160 - you
couldn't make it up.....
Then they called the other week to see why I had changed suppliers - I laughed out loud and explained that if British Gas (that's a laugh - try
speaking to someone who works in customer services who is actually in Britain...) started giving gas away free I still wouldn't go back to
them
They are a bunch of tossers - never never never never never never never never never never never ever give them the opportunity to supply you with
anything - ever.

No small wonder that in a recent survey publicised on television, they came out as the worst customer care company in Britain - I couldn't agree
more!!!
No wonder they did away with local shop outlets - if there was one locally I'd have gladly gone around there ripped someone's head off.
P.S. By the admission of one of the girls who eventually answered one of my many attempts to call, they have an IT system that DOESN'T WORK!
Advise everyone you know with BG to switch - it's the only way to stop this type of disgracefull service that is becoming more commonplace in
this country.

As a dissatisfied customerof BG a year ago, I changed to Scottish Power (when another 999,999 people left BG). Although prices have increased by
approximately 100% generally, customer service is great (when I used it once) and going back to BG certainly isn't on top of my agenda.

At work, I have had problems with British Gas, they have billed us and threatened to cut us off. They have sent meter readers to read the meter, sent
bailiffs in, and informed the police that we have refused them access to the gas meter.
The only minor problem is that we have never dealt with British Gas, we have no meter, nothing that could use mains gas, have never had an account
with them.
It seems we were picked on at random and maliciously billed.
Cost several tens of man hours and countless phone hours to sort out.
I wouldn't deal with them if they were the last power supplier on earth
As one of their leecy meter engineers, I always tell people to get out asap!! Even I have trouble talking to their tech people (the only English people they emply it seems). Absolute bunch of c@%k sucking monkeys from top to bottom. I'm just glad I don't work directly for them. I'd go Powergen if asked, or Scottish Power.

Get out your old bills, go on U-switch and buy from the recommended supplier, that way their customer service will ring you to find out why?? I am now with scottish power for both electric and gas, best thing I have done billwise.... keithice
I swapped from them about 4 years ago. Normal gas bill per quarter about £130 at the time, they sent a reader round for the final reading about 3
weeks into the quarter and sent a bill for a bit over £800 which took 18 months to sort out and they eventually wrote it off and apologised for any
inconvenience
We are also with Scottish Power now
scottish power are sounding pretty good then
