Hi All,
I've been given an old Amstrad Skydigibox. Is it possible to get freeview with this? Do I need a viewing card? Any idea on how to set it up, or
is it only fit for the bin?
Regards, Ian.
You should be able to get Freesat on it once you have installed and aligned a dish, which might be best entrusted to your local TV company.
You will need a freeview card from Sky to get all the available free channels.
Buy a dish from e-bay and set it up yourself. very easy to do as the sky box will have a signal strength meter built in. Just use a portable telly and
the sky box on an extension lead in a position you can see from the dish.
FreeSat should be here next year which will cut that theiving, controlling barsteward Aussie out of the loop

As above. The cards are £20 from sky. They used to sell for £40 on ebay for some strange reason?
If your digibox has the sky viewing card in it (even though the sky pay channels have now been blocked) you can usually recieve the freeview channels
via this

Frank
when we got sky last year, we got the ususal bbc, itv, c4, c5, and quite a few others before the cards arrived.
but for the hassle in installing it, and the dish, why not just get a freeview box if thats all you want?
Thanks for the info all.

There's a dish attached to the house, socket in the wall, and I've been given the digibox by someone who's gone over to Sky+. I've
plugged it all in but have zilch on show, hence the question. Many thanks.
