Velux in Trussed Roof??????

I would like to put a Velux window in my loft , but I have a trussed roof design , and the narrowest Velux/Skylight I can find will not go between my trusses.

Is there any approved way of cutting a timber out and strengthening? , has anyone thrown caution to the wind and done it the old way with a noggin?

Any structural expert replies would be greatly appreciated.

i have one for sale, 36" x 48".

Or, if your house is roofed with concrete tiles you can get clear poycarbonate ones to replace the concrete ones. as many or as few as you like.
Might be an option.

Velux do a 560mm wide window that should fit inbetween trusses on nomal 600 centers

I'll have a word with Velux , I only have a gap of circa 440mm between the trusses.

You cannot under any circumstances cut Trusses without calcs being done! Sorry to be the harbinger of bad news.

Trusses are usually doubled up either side of velux windows, and the calculation is done at the time of build.

Roof covering needs to be known as well, concrete tiles are heavy, plain tiles can be even heavier depending on what they are made of.
