All the lads from work are going wakeboarding tomorrow as a new lake with cable tow has opened down the road.
None of us have done it before and we are all very competetive, lots of bets have been made already and photo and video evidence will be taken.
Now I need some tips to try and get the upper hand! I windsurf fairly regularly and have been snowboarding for a few years now. I tried water skiing
and kneeboarding about 10 years ago too. I'm hoping the snowboarding will help me on the water. My main worry is staying up right when going from
0 to 30kph instantly when the rope takes!
Any one done it before?

its class fun, lean well back at the start, then move forward a little bit when you get going...................then hold and get ready for the
splash!!!!
Enjoy.
I use to do a lot, good fun but your arms will die!!! No doubt you will sit on a jetty so they key is to lean back with the nose of the board pretty
much vertical and wait for the pull. Keep your arms taught and don't pull the cable into you.
Then you can do this like me.
As Daimo_45 says, key is to lean back and wait for the tension to pull you forward. Don't try to pre-empt the tug!
Another tip is for when you come to the first corner, try to go wide and before the wire does it's sudden 90 degree turn angle the board towards
the direction you are about to be pulled, otherwise you will be pulled sideways and skiis/boards don't work so well sideways!
Enjoy it though as it is great fun!
Has the lake opened down the road, or in the road?
I've watched them on the Trent, it looks easy enough, don't overtake the boat

Dont try to stand up. Let the cable pull you up. the first 20m or so will be with you virtually sat ont he water. As said, once going, keep the weight over your back foot. Also remove any jewlerry etc, as when you bail (and you will bail) it really does hurt. I manged to knock myself out twice ont he water, and had a t-shirt ripped clean off my back! It is great fun tho. Enjoy!
