I'm a plonker
NeilP - 26/7/07 at 08:06 PM

In tintop, flooded roads all the way home, tried the shortcut, looked do-able (checked afterwards was only 10" ), forgot about the small dip, car coming the other way with a big bow wave, mine's a diesel and .... dead.

Strongly suspect hydraulic lock but hopefully only a drop in it so may get it fixed without major drama. Company car thank bigG so all covered but supposed to be going on hols with it next week

Luckily missus had been through the same patch just 25mins before and not got caught (neither has a low air intake but hers is lower than mine).

MORAL: Go the long (dry) way.

p.s. Was fed up enough with this weather not being able to drive the kit...

But you're not as big a plonker as the bloke who was driving the one I just fixed, a tractor with the air intake nearly 4' off the ground but he still found some water deep enough!
Injectors out & water drained off the bottom of the sump & we spun it over. The water hit the workshop roof with some force but there were no nasty noises. Injectors refitted & it ran sweet as ever, lucky escape

Compared the problems people have had and are having elsewhere in the country and esp. the family of the guys in Gloucester a damp car is really nothing...
