Been exchanging emails with Marc and Chris about shipping an MNR kit to the states for me to build whilst on my secondment. Also I have spoken to
roger lindquist who MNR have shipped a kit to over there. I am waiting for roger to get back to me on a couple of points but does anyone have any
advice on how this could best be achieved.
Ive always wanted to build an MNR and the first time im really able to afford it, ill be in the states
So im investigating how i can ship the
kit as easily as possible.
I am considering having my father build an all in one crate. At this time it seems the best thing to do.
Can you not just either hire or buy a small shipping container? AFAIK they are less than £1000 to buy 2nd hand and then you could just flog it after shipping.
possibly, not sure on the legalities of shipping your own container though
i ahve a friend who is a shipping agent so i might tap him up for information
The last company I worked for air freighted a Viper from the US and sent it back again a few weeks later. It came in a box that, from memory, was
made from 4"x2" adn 18mm ply.
Sea freight might be different. Be warned about rust if you send anything by sea.
How long would it take to get a container shipped out. I have heard people that have their belongings shipped over have to wait about 2-3months.
Hi Laim,
We use a firm called Air Marine to ship export goods to North America and Australia. They've always been very helpful and got the job done with
the minimum of fuss. Might be worth a call to see what sort of service they can offer you in terms of conatinerisation and shipping.
Don't forget about the cost of import duty (if applicable) and return shipping for the finished car when you want to bring it back.

when we quoted for rodgers kit is was £695 crated and insured from door to door that was approx 8 months ago so should still be near to that ( reason
its quite expensive is the crate has to be in specially treated wood for us and canada shipments )
cheers

Or you can build a Roadster.
AlanB in florida can sell you all the stuff.
Buy a book though, My Granny needs an operation.
