A while ago I asked a couple of DIY questions and someone helpfully put up a link to a good DIY handbook.
One of the Reader's Digest type books I suspect.
Well, I've come to want to buy it now, and of course I'm b#######d if I can find the thread with that link!
So if anyone remembers which one it was specifically, or has any good suggestions then please tell me.
Thanks!

I have an older copy of this
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Collins-Complete-Manual-Albert-Jackson/dp/0007185235/ref=sr_1_3/203-7052008-8207925?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1186742647&
;sr=1-3
and have found it very useful over the years.
Slightly OT, but I bought a DIY book the other month and it is rubbish.
It seems all these part p rules around electrics have made it so companies don't put ANYTHING in about home electrics - which is a real pain.
Typical nanny state syndrome, my father has an old readers digest DIY book that has EVERYTHING in - it's excellent, but it was written in the
early 80's when publshers weren't worried about getting sued.

Yep, recently bought our first house and I peruse the Readers Digest book before attempting any new task. I haven't paid anyone for a job yet (though plastering was pretty close)! You might be able to find a copy second hand through Amazon or the auction sites?
I'll second that.
The best one I found, was the old loose leaf one with a grey plastic cover. It looks like a brief case. Got mine for £2. Some of the electrical and
plumbing info is obviously out of date, but better than modern books.
Charity shops are a brilliant source of books like this. HTH.
The readers digest one is very good,
Flea bay have them as usual, but as said charity shops and second hand book shops rock.
flea bay linky
W.H.Smith are selling copies of the Collins DIY book for £6ish.
