Bit of a long shot but...

...as im coming up to my 21st (2 months ) i want to get a HGV licence and do some truck driving in motorsport (preferably f1) as one of my parents freinds did it for Villeneuves BAR in 2000-2003.
Iv been looking for info about the trucks and the job but cant find any info at all. I remember a few years ago Martin Brundle did an article for itv about them but looked on youtube and cant find anything.
I thought id ask on here if anyone knew where i could find some info on the net.

you would need a class 1,cant go straight into that any more, you would prob need to know someone on the inside to get a job as truckie in F1 and a few years experience

From what i understand i will need to do catagory c and the catagory c+e. Expensive but i have always wanted to do it for some kind of motorsport

should have joined the army, you could have been behind the wheel at 17 !

i thought you wanted to drive a race truck as in a racing truck!

You should come and work for me, most of my drivers seem to think they are some sort of driving god but have the battle scars to prove otherwise

Thats the same withy alot of post office drivers.

You can do crash courses in hgv driving. Its not a cheap thing to do. U need a job that will put you through it. It was about 2 grand for a week when i was put through my C1.

As said though speak to your friend to find out some more info. i dont think itl be as easy to get into that sort of driving as you think.

I don't think you could just walk into anything to do with f1. I certainly can't see anyone letting an in-experienced hgv driver drag several million pounds worth of kit all over the world in double quick time. Even the teaboy probably has years of experience making fine teas for the right people, and still needed to know someone who knows someone to get in...

Cheers for the comments guys.
Im not sure where my parents friend is any more because he used to deliver to my dads greengrocers but il go to his last workplace and see if they know.
I think i may be better getting some experience too but its something to work toward
