Our bloody neighbour just came and complained to me about this:

Firstly - it is clearly on our side of the driveway and as their freinds park partly on our drive so we have to ask them
to move, do they have any reason to complain?
Secondly - if they do, does that mean i can complain to them about their s**t choice of cars and the way their
spoiled kids make as much noise as they like in the middle of the night?
Thirdly - i quite like the way it looks a work of art
And finally - Is there anything i should be wary of them doing? I dont mean scratching it I mean getting the
council or something to force me to remove it? I didnt realise how long it would take me do gather all the parts i need.
I have explained this to him and the fact that i am working as quickly as i can but every time i see him he complains.
We obvilously dont want to fall out with our pilock neghbours but i think its really out of order. no one else in our street
complain.

if its on your property just tell them to fu*k off and mind there own business simple as that, well thats what id do anyway lol.

You can imagine how much i want to do that but my parents want to stay 'friendly' with them

must admit, i also had a scrap car in the drive whilst i was building but it isnt the nicest thing in the world to look at.

i think most people would agree that a donor should be either kept out of sight or stripped and romoved sharpish no one wants to live next door to a home mechanic.

i have a high respect for my next door neighbours and try my hardest not to upset them however this does seem impossible at times.

As long as it's on your property and is not causing a potential health and safety problem I don't think they can do much.

... having said that, you probably don't want to unncessarily wee them off if you've got to live next to them, so I would just continue to do what you are already doing - let them know you are going as fast as you can. If you can get what you need off the shell in one go rather than piecemeal maybe you could get rid of it earlier?

My natural inclination would be to tell them to Foxtrot Oscar. Having said that, why not get a cheap car cover and throw it over?

Personally i'd wait for them to go out next then put an old washing machine on the drive as well, along with a few matresses/old bike frames.Some taped up numbers on the side of the jag to give it a 'stock car look' plus maybe a dog tied onto a length of long rope.

Give it a day or so (obviously considering the dogs welfare) then remove the extra items.

They won't say another word in complaint I can assure you

Last time i fell out with my neighbour ( well my neighbours mother... i havent met the neighbour yet since he works out the country) i told her what i thought of her... she started crying in the middle of the street lol.... the old hag!!!

I'm probably too considerate with my neighbours - but i don't want hassle.

get yourself a car cover and leave it covered up when you're not working on it is a simple answer.

Did you remove the lights for a reason? If you don't want to buy a car cover (make sure you wrap it carefully, if the wind gets under they are noisy) put the lights back, leave the car level and it looks 'normal' to me.

Seriously, if your neighbours are complaining now, set yourself some rules about noise. I don't make noise before 10am or after 7pm (by that i mean angle grinder / drill). I've never had a complaint & considering there are kids as young as 3 i think thats pretty good going. In fact one neighbour commented he came round cause he heard i was in the garage when i wasn't - it was someone else (mud and reputations stick)

my neighbour covered my wifes car in paint after painting his house. 2 weeks ago and hasnt been around to sort it yet after i spoke to him but on the plus side i hope he doesnt because if he comes around moaning about noise ill run the pr**k over

Saying that we do have a particular house 1/2 mile from me that has had a couple of half broken cars in it's garden for years and it looks like a right pikey site.

Their next door neighbour is spotless

Tried the car cover but they didn't like that.
Lights are off because i am using them on my car, locost and all that
I already dont angle grind or make any noise before 10 and by 7 im knackered.
I dont think the dog would be to pleased as he hates not having all the attention (see photo archive) and the washing machine was a s*d to get into the back garden, im not going to now move it to the front
Putting a fence up will cost money and we had to move the car down so that i could work under it. They wont move that stupid peugeot

If it was next door to me on a "open style" driveway I wouldn't be too chuffed either. Looks to me like the wingmirror is over the boundry line.

But it is your property its sitting on, so just ignore them.

You don't need to have a go at all - just say "yeah I'll sort soon" - whats he gonna do when its still there the week after? Call the cops cos you lied?

Just kindly ask them to straighten up their block pave drive boundary! If you look closely it moves towards your drive half way down.

i woudnt be impressed if the car was next door to me but im the sort that would find out how long it was going to be there first. Id probs also offer to hep strip it if it meant it could go quicker.


Nearly everyone on here wil advise telling them to get stuffed, but you have to admit a scrap car isnt a good look on a driveway.

Just be polite and ignore them would be my advise, I have been there and done this.

The council will not care if its not for commerial gain (had them called around years ago when I was repairing my landrover chassis) so no worried there.

I also had a snotty neighbor who tried to get a petition up complaining, everyone else refused to sign it, in fact my 84 year old neighbor on the other side remarked on how she liked to see people getting on with things, not watching TV and being idle.

Everyone else denied hearing any noise ( I worked 24 hour rota so fiddled week days 9-5).

I did anything noisy inside a closed garage, she just took a dislike upon our arrival as we had a bigger house that cost £100k.

she had paid £150k two years previuosly then the market crashed... just sour grapes I guess

But its unsightly, If you are keeping the rear lights then pop them back with one nut until its time for it to go.

Best thing to do is cut the engine free, rob all the wires and other bits and bobs, trailer down the breakers and get rid.

If you do not have a hoist for the engine get the shell collected by a breakers the driver will lift out the lump with his lorry hoist for you.

usually there is something else behind it. i had a donor car on my drive for 8 weeks and there were no complaints, i even had cups of tea made for me

they then asked to put up a 6 foot fence and i let them, problem solved, my drive could be as messy as i liked.

is there something else that has happened? somthing that would make the slightest thing grind on them?
