can i post my docs away and keep the green bit part 10 and use part 10 to buy road tax or do i need the full docs to tax my motorbike as i just got a new bike and its going to take 3-4 days to get my insurance posted out to me and i dont want to be told by dvla im goting a fine from sorn.(had to pay £80 for sorn last year on an old bike i own)

I have previously completed the form as required and handed it in at the post office when taxing a car following a change of address. You will be fine doing this yourself and obviously the DVLA wont know you are the owner until you have already taxed the bike.
Normally the seller sends off the V5 and you just get the New Keepers Supplement - take it you have the whole V5 then??

If you have the whole document then you may as well take it with you and get your tax with it. Make sure its all fully completed with your new address and the Post Office will generally ask you if you want them to forward it on to the DVLA. Not sure you can get tax on the New Keepers Supplement as it doesnt show the full details that they require to complete the tax disk.

You can get tax with just the little green fella, I've done it many times, I have a nasty habit of buying untaxed bangers In fact I even did it with my donor, taxed it so I could use it as a mobile skip to take the crap filling up my garage and garden to the dump
