Since early morning SKY News has been doing live coverage of the McCann couple ( Madeleine) returning to the UK.

I know it's a tragic story however it turns out, but does the parents' flight home really merit wall to wall news coverage? I haven't seen anything like this since the return of the Princess of Wales' body from Paris.

Why doesn't SKY give similar coverage to the return of the bodies of servicemen killed in Iraq for example ?

Because it's not 'news' anymore.

They have gone the way of American TV and cater for the prurience of the intellectually challenged.

the media circus, you gotta love it. I despise them myself. I dont believe for a moment that the parents played any part in the disappearance. Journalists and editors are scum. Global media may well cause the fall of humanity, not joking. Its like a feedback cycle out of control. In the old days 'ripple' would fade because the means of passing on a story was slow. Nowadays a story bounces round the globe being amplified as it goes.

The McCanns started this 'media circus' so they cannot blame it for getting worse. You just can't turn off what you started when it suits.

Unbelievable!!

Now they've got a helicopter following the McCann car home from the airport. At the same time they're running a crawler quoting the father's appeal for the family to be left alone and their privacy respected.

Why am I watching ? It's part of my job.
