Is there anyone on here who has access to a CNC Waterjet cutter, laser or router?

I need a piece of stainless cut out and it wouldmake cutting the circles a lot easier if a computer did it for me!

Not a help, but my mate just sold his £250K Laser Cutting Machine... I could ask him where and who he sold it to if it helps?

I know a place who will do most lasercut stuff for £35 (or that's been the price I've paid twice and on both occasions got about 10* the number of parts that I needed- it's their minimum order price) if you draw it up on CAD for them....

NS Dev (Nat) on this forum had a friend offering CNC and fabrication services at pretty reasonable rates. Nat posted some examples of the work which looks very good.

do you have to have a nublke of one part cut or will thay cut lots of difrent parts to make up the minimum ordere? also how thin can the parts be? can stalnles parts be cut this way?

I have a number of buits i.e. 40 odd diffrenty shaped parts I need cutting most parts 10*10 cm I was wondeing if I could get a ball park figure to find out if it was cost prohibitive?

When I ordered my stuff from laser-eng I had two different designs of tabbed washers (one one DXF CAD file) and they still charged for one job. I
If you've got 40 different CAD files you want cutting out then I expect the cost would be higher because they'll have to reprogram the CNC machine for each piece and generally babysit the machine.
If its 40 pieces on one CAD file and it can all be done on one sheet of metal (ie they can program the machine, press go and come back when its finished) I don't see why it would cost more- but best thing to do is to e-mail them a description or send them a drawing (if you haven't drawn them up yet in CAD) and ask for a quote...

Prices vary a lot for laser cutting. When I got the tabbed washers made up most places wanted ~ £100 (eMachineShop wanted £200 but they always do!!).... So £35 was pretty good!

Cost will vary alot it depends on what you need cutting and what material you want it cutting from, Stainless, mild, ali, plastic etc. and also the thickness of the material. The biggest sheets we can cut from are 3m x1.5m up to about 15mm thick

can wood be cut?? i.e 3/16th ply or 1/8 balsa?

yes wood can be cut. we've done it a few times before usually plywood.
