Alonso has apparently been talking to a number of teams apart from the obvious Renault his name has been linked with Ferrari ! and he has reportedly
been seen talking to Red Bull !!!
Two weeks ago I would have wagered money on Alonso going back to Renault but perhaps even Flavio has lost trust in Alonso or perhaps Renault-Nissan
find the controversy that now surrounds Alonso potentially damaging.
The talk of Alonso going to Ferrari is apparently well grounded with Massa potentially joining Toyota as number 1 driver. Apart from the fact it
pulls the ground from under Ferrari's stance against McLaren I can't honestly see Alonso accepting as equal no1 Raikon Wait for the
fireworks.
Alonso has been seen talking to Red Bull (how the mighty have fallen) ---- where both MW and DC are already confirmed as staying on next year,
although it must be considered as DC's last season I can't see him giving up the drive easily.
Always sure footed and trust worthy team player DC is one of the anchormen of Red Bull and while position in team management beckons perhaps that
could be back at Mclaren where I am sure Ron would welcome his reliable stalwart back.

Fernando Alonso is reportedly off to Ferrari next season in a £20m per year deal, while Felipe Massa is moving to Toyota.
Alonso's position at McLaren has become more untenable with the FIA's confirmation that it was the Spaniard's emails that resulted in
the team being stripped of their 2007 Constructors' Championship points and handed a £50m fine.
And with Ron Dennis admitting that his relationship with his driver is "extremely cold" and that Alonso's unhappy with the team's
equality policy, the double World Champion's time at McLaren appears to be running out - and fast.
In fact, according to the News of the World, Alonso has just three more races as a McLaren driver having already agreed to join Ferrari.
According to the tabloid, the Spaniard has agreed a £20 million a year deal to join Ferrari for 2008, leaving Felipe Massa out in the cold.
Massa, though, is already making plans for the future with the Daily Mail claiming that he 'opened preliminary negotiations with Toyota last
weekend.'
The newspaper went on to say that Massa's decision to leave Ferrari could be based on team boss Jean Todt's pending (and unwanted)
retirement in order to make way for Ross Brawn's return.
The Ferrari tech director, who is nearing the end of his year-long sabbatical, is expected to return to the Scuderia next season as team boss. And
should this happen it could place Todt's son, who is also Massa's manager, in an uncomfortable position.
'Massa is acutely aware that if Jean Todt, as expected, loses an impending internal power struggle within Ferrari, he will be instantly
vulnerable as he is managed by the Frenchman's son, Nicholas,' the Mail surmised.
On a personal note, P-F1 believes Alonso would do well at Ferrari... after all he already knows all about the car and how to set it up.
Wouldn't Alonso then be taking knowledge of top secret McLaren technology to Ferrari?
Alonso is in a bit of a double bind. Should he win this years WDC,it will be tainted. And should he lose to a rookie..

According to Mosley if Hamilton wins the title it will be tainted --- he never mentioned it would be tainted if Alonso won !
I have been doing a fair bit of digging into the past of all those involved -- anything I found on Ron greatly increased my respect for him, Bernie
is just Bernie ace fixer, middle man wheeler dealer, but the stuff on the web on Moseley just gets more bizarre even if you leave out his time in the
BUF, which he left some time after 1964.

Whoever wins the championship, and Bernie will see that it is Lewis, it will be tainted. McLaren should have been kicked out.
If he does go to ferrari, the main reason would probably be because they clearly support on driver at about the halfway point. We all know how much he would like that. I personally can see him back in the renault next year. After their crappy season, i think they will do anything to get him back.

I would be surprised to find Alonso preferring Kimi as a (probably) equal partner over Hamilton, as I reckon Kimi would be the harder of the two to
beat, although I doubt Kimi would play the media game as much as Hamilton likes to.
But saying that, the money and the only other car guaranteed to produce wins could be the deciding factor.
I also doubt very much that Alonso would go to RedBull, not until they prove they can win races anyway, the year after next when DC retires would be a
more likely scenario for that, (and he would struggle to out qualify Webbo who is indecently quick over a single lap)
I reckon Toyota would be the best option for him, as he would make either of the boulder bros look second rate (although they are pretty good at doing
that all by themselves anyway ) and get the number 1 spot with no problem, which is obviously his greatest desire.
Would be surprised to see Brawn back at Ferrari either, not yet anyway, more likely to be Honda bound.

Looks like Alonso hasn't been offered a drive with another team so is attempting to stick out his contract. Either that or he wants to be bought
out of it before he announces a new team.

I do wonder if Alonso's car will be less than 100% for the rest of the season... a few hundred rpm missing at the top end, ignition timing a
degree or so out at significant revs, incorrect oil in the gearbox, and so on - stuff that's hard to prove as intended mischief later.
But, as said earlier, Ron wouldn't do that - would he?
Suspect that Ron may like to have his sponsors name in a prominent position ? NO not at the side of the track broken down!
I wasn't thinking about bad enough to stop - just not good enough to beat Hamilton.
